  11. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  12. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  13. rules or policy, and may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
  14.  
  15. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  16. STATED HEREIN AND ALL OTHER PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.

  18. The International Fidonet Conference DESQVIEW is not owned or operated
  19. by Quarterdeck Office Systems. It is an echomail conference provided by
  20. the Fidonet amateur e-mail network and is paid for by individual systems
  21. who help distribute it.  Please follow Conference Rules to help keep
  22. moving DESQVIEW as cost effective as possible.
  23.  
  24. Discussions are permitted on *all Quarterdeck products* including
  25. DESQview, DESQview/X, QEMM, Manifest, CleanSweep, Sidebar, Internet
  26. Suite, and other Quarterdeck Internet Products.
  27.  
  28. All discussions, including those regarding hardware and software, shall
  29. be of a technical nature only and must pertain to the operation or
  30. enhancement of a Quarterdeck product.  When a discussion goes beyond
  31. this, then either use netmail or another more appropriate conference.
  32.  
  33. This is not a Windows bashing conference or a debate conference on
  34. DESQview vs. Windows, DESQview vs. OS/2, QEMM vs. Netroom, etc.
  35. Bashing is strictly off-topic and annoying.
  36.  
  37. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  38. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. Please
  39. seek Moderator approval via netmail if you wish to claim an exemption.
  40.  
  41. Posts from DVNET and Quarterdeck will be periodically entered in this
  42. conference.  These postings are of an informational nature for
  43. Quarterdeck product users and have been approved by the Moderator.
  44.  
  45. DEBUG/UUENCODE file script postings are NOT permitted.  Posting of these
  46. type messages will be considered annoying behavior.
  47.  
  48. DVNET (Headquarters 1:355/38@fidonet.org) is considered the official
  49. method of distributing files to enhance Quarterdeck products.  DVNET
  50. member systems have their file listings available for file request under
  51. the magic name DVNET.  A DVNET systems list is published monthly in the
  52. DESQVIEW conference or it can be file requested from 1:355/38 as
  53. DVNet.lst.  DVN-INF.* is available from any DVNET system.  It contains
  54. DVNET policy, setup info, author submission info, and an application.

  56. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.

  58. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  59. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  60. action.

  62. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  63. discussion of such to netmail.
  64.  
  65. Posting "test" messages is considered annoying.  Please use a local
  66. conference to test your links or software.
  67.  
  68. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  69. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  70.  
  71. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  72. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  73. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  74. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  75. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  76. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  77. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  79. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  80. across.  Quoting entire messages and/or signature/tag/origin lines is
  81. annoying.

  83. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  84. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.

  86. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  87. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  88. cut/pastes from screen captures.
  89.  
  90. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
  91.  
  92. Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
  93. official accepted language.
  94.  
  95. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  96. written permission of the Moderator.
  97.  
  98. Questioning Moderator Policy in the DESQVIEW echo shall be considered
  99. annoying.  The Moderators are always open to discussion concerning echo
  100. policy and welcome suggestions and comments via NETMAIL or E-Mail.
  101.  
  102. The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  103. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
  104. posted "From: Moderator", states "DESQview Moderator" in the origin line
  105. and/or is signed using one of the "official signatures" below:
