  1. Chess Tourney Echo Rules

  3. Where We Came From:

  5. Chess Tourney has grown out of a desire for a RELAXED, FUN echo on which
  6. players of ALL strengths can actually (gasp) PLAY chess and discuss chess
  7. in an atmosphere of congeniality and mutual respect for one another.

  10. Membership Requirements:
  11.  
  12. There are NO requirements for membership, OTHER THAN your commitment to
  13. FINISH any game(s) you start.  Dropouts will be dealt with publicly!
  14. We won't shoot you, but we WILL publish your name as a warning to other
  15. prospective opponents!  If you start a game or a match or a tournament,
  16. you are expected to FINISH it.  If you don't, a lot of enjoyment is lost
  17. to everyone.  As a general rule of thumb, if you call a BBS receiving
  18. CHESS_TOURNEY at least once every 2 days, and your opponent does also,
  19. it will take between 1 & 2 months to complete a game.  If you call once
  20. a week (each), then a game will last approximately 15 months.

  23. Ratings:

  25. We don't have any!  Ratings are not emphasized.  You don't have to have
  26. a rating to play here!  We will use them to pair opponents for team
  27. matches, but even then you can play as "unrated".

  29. But if you don't have a rating, don't get hung up about it, and above all,
  30. don't let that keep you from playing!

  35. Any chess-related topic is fine!

  38. Aliases:

  40. The use of aliases is HIGHLY discrouaged.  If (for technical reasons, e.g.
  41. BBS accounts created under an alias) you must use one, you MUST sign your
  42. real name to each message.  Cooperation appreciated!

  45. Games:

  47. To obtain a game with an individual, leave a message to that individual, or
  48. a message to ALL asking for an opponent.  Someone will take you up on it!
  49. If you'd like to compete in a team match or tournament, contact me on the
  50. echo, or watch for others announcing team events/tournaments and leave a
  51. message to them that you want to play.  Play all you want, but FINISH games
  52. you start <g>!
