  8.                Commodore Computer Conference (CBM) Rules

  11. WHAT IS THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  12. This conference is a friendly meeting place for owners and users of
  13. Commodore Business Machines 8-bit hardware, including the PET, VIC-20,
  14. C-64, C-128, C-16, Plus/4, and other Commodore 8-bit CPU computers and
  15. peripherals. This conference does NOT support the Commodore Amiga, PC
  16. or Colt lines.

  18. VALID POSTINGS IN THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  19. Messages in the conference shall deal with items of direct interest to
  20. owners and users of Commodore 8-bit CPU machines. These may include
  21. features, applications (both hardware and software), problems, repairs,
  22. discoveries, programming (ML, BASIC, or other languages),
  23. modifications, publications, sales or trades of hardware and legally
  24. owned software, etc.

  26. INVALID POSTINGS IN THE CBM CONFERENCE:
  27. Messages that do not fit the above are "Off Topic" and shall not be
  28. posted in this echo. When conflict exist, the moderator's best
  29. judgement shall prevail.

  31. Examples of things that are forbidden in this echo include, but are not
  32. limited to, the following. If someone finds a new way to annoy all and
  33. sundry, a new category will be added.

  35. PIRACY - Discussion of the illegal acquisition of commercial software
  36. is forbidden and if flagrant may result in loss of access without
  37. warning.

  39. PERSONAL ATTACKS (FLAMES) - You may disagree with the viewpoint of
  40. other users. Do so politely and without "Ad Hominem" comments.

  42. OBSCENITY - Language should be appropriate for the age and gender mix
  43. of our participants.
  44.  
  45. EMULATORS - Programs that run on other platforms, even in the attempt
  46. to copy the operation of the Commodores, are "Off Topic" here.

  48. ALIAS'S / HANDLES - This is a "Real Name Only" echo. If you must use an
  49. alias or handle in the From: field, then you must sign each post with
  50. your real name. This should only be considered a temporary expedient.

  52. PERSONAL (CHAT) MESSAGES - Personal messages, not remotely related with
  53. Commodore computers, are "Off Topic".

  55. MODERATION:
  56. The moderator will usually reply to violations thru the echo itself.
  57. This is due primarily to the large number of Commodore users who do not
  58. have access to netmail and is not intended to insult or embarrass any
  59. participant. If you receive a reminder, you may reply in the echo or by
  60. netmail to the address below. Other users shall not respond to
  61. "Official" communications between the moderator and a user.

  64. signed "The Moderator". Post without the official signature may be
  65. treated as you would treat a post by any participant.
