  18. INTRODUCTION
  19.  
  20. SiteBoss is a 32-bit Windows 95/NT application for comprehensive
  21. Website management, diagnosis, repair, and optimization. If you
  22. create or manage a Web or intranet site, SiteBoss will immediately
  23. make your job easier, save you time, and help you improve the
  24. quality of your site!

  41. INSTALLATION
  42.  
  43. SiteBoss requires a PC running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4 and
  44. 4-8 MB of free disk space.
  45.  
  46. It is important to close all running applications before
  47. running SETUP.EXE. Conflicts with open files can cause the
  48. installation to fail.
  49.  
  50. 1. After downloading and unzipping the ZIP file(s) into a
  51.    temporary directory, run SETUP.EXE.
  52.  
  53. 2. SiteBoss was compiled using some of the the very latest
  54.    Microsoft Windows system files. Some of these can only
  55.    be installed properly by restarting Windows during setup.
  56.    The setup program handles this and will ask you for permission
  57.    to restart if necessary. After restarting, you may have to
  58.    run SETUP.EXE again (follow the on-screen instructions).
  59.  
  60. 3. After successfully installing and starting SiteBoss, choose
  61.    Tools | Options from the menu. Select the Helper Applications
  62.    tab, and fill in the information regarding the HTML editor,
  63.    image editor and browser you would like to use with SiteBoss.

  69. UN-INSTALLATION
  70.  
  71. To remove this application from your system, use Windows's
  72. Uninstall facility (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs). If
  73. you manually delete the program directory before trying this,
  74. Windows will not be able to uninstall the other components.
  75. There will occassionally be some remaining files in the
  76. installation directory after un-installing. You should delete
  77. these files (and the installation directory) manually.

  80. KNOWN PROBLEMS AND RECENT FIXES IN THIS VERSION

  85. Known Problems:
  86.  
  87. ò Checking external links with too many concurrent connections
  88.   sometimes causes the program to freeze. (Doesn't occur when
  89.   using a proxy server.)
  90. ò Links to anchors in external (remote) pages are not checked
  91.   correctly
  92. ò <base> tag is not honored
  93. ò Site Profile Properties (Advanced): Excluded masks not honored
  94. ò Change Target window: "Insert modified URLs as ..." option not
  95.   honored
  96. ò Unlinked files are deleted correctly when the parent directory
  97.   is deleted. However, if the parent directory contains only
  98.   unlinked files, it should be deleted too -- it isn't.
  99. ò Norton Crashguard and Cybermedia First Aid incorrectly report
  100.   problems while running SiteBoss. Disabling these programs
  101.   allows SiteBoss to function with no problems of any kind.
  102.   We're investigating why.
  103. ò Customizing a Rulebase via the Customize button in Options
  104.   doesn't automatically force the use of the new Rulebase.
  105.   Workaround: select another Rulebase, and then the first one again.
  106. ò The File Move dialog doesn't permits file renaming only if moving
  107.   the file.
  108. ò The file:// protocol is not recognized 
  109.  
  110. Recent Fixes and Changes:

  112. ò Greatly improved performance while scanning in sites.
  113.  
  114. ò HTML 4 attributes in the HEAD and TITLE tags are no longer lost
  115.   if changes are made to the TITLE or META tags using SiteBoss.
