INSTALLATION
SiteBoss requires a PC running Windows 95 or Windows NT 4 and
4-8 MB of free disk space.
It is important to close all running applications before
running SETUP.EXE. Conflicts with open files can cause the
installation to fail.
1. After downloading and unzipping the ZIP file(s) into a
temporary directory, run SETUP.EXE.
2. SiteBoss was compiled using some of the the very latest
Microsoft Windows system files. Some of these can only
be installed properly by restarting Windows during setup.
The setup program handles this and will ask you for permission
to restart if necessary. After restarting, you may have to
run SETUP.EXE again (follow the on-screen instructions).
3. After successfully installing and starting SiteBoss, choose
Tools | Options from the menu. Select the Helper Applications
tab, and fill in the information regarding the HTML editor,
image editor and browser you would like to use with SiteBoss.
4. Report problems and suggestions to isabo@opposite.com
or use the form located at www.siteboss.com/feedback.html.
UN-INSTALLATION
To remove this application from your system, use Windows's
Uninstall facility (Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs). If
you manually delete the program directory before trying this,
Windows will not be able to uninstall the other components.
There will occassionally be some remaining files in the
installation directory after un-installing. You should delete
these files (and the installation directory) manually.
KNOWN PROBLEMS AND RECENT FIXES IN THIS VERSION
Report problems and suggestions to siteboss@opposite.com
or use the form located at www.siteboss.com/feedback.html.
Known Problems:
ò Checking external links with too many concurrent connections
sometimes causes the program to freeze. (Doesn't occur when
using a proxy server.)
ò Links to anchors in external (remote) pages are not checked
correctly
ò <base> tag is not honored
ò Site Profile Properties (Advanced): Excluded masks not honored
ò Change Target window: "Insert modified URLs as ..." option not
honored
ò Unlinked files are deleted correctly when the parent directory
is deleted. However, if the parent directory contains only
unlinked files, it should be deleted too -- it isn't.
ò Norton Crashguard and Cybermedia First Aid incorrectly report
problems while running SiteBoss. Disabling these programs
allows SiteBoss to function with no problems of any kind.
We're investigating why.
ò Customizing a Rulebase via the Customize button in Options
doesn't automatically force the use of the new Rulebase.
Workaround: select another Rulebase, and then the first one again.
ò The File Move dialog doesn't permits file renaming only if moving
the file.
ò The file:// protocol is not recognized
Recent Fixes and Changes:
ò Greatly improved performance while scanning in sites.
ò HTML 4 attributes in the HEAD and TITLE tags are no longer lost
if changes are made to the TITLE or META tags using SiteBoss.
