  2. BREWSTER KALEIDOSCOPIC SCREENSAVER - INSTALLATION

  4. To install Brewster, just copy the three files BREWSTER.SCR,
  5. BREWSTER.DAT, and BREWSTER.HLP into your Windows directory.
  6. Any other files such as FILE_ID.DIZ are unnecessary and can
  7. be discarded.

  9. Now open the Display device on your Control Panel, go to the
  10. Screensaver tab, and select Brewster.  Click on 'Settings'
  11. to configure it, or 'Preview' to see a full-screen view.

  13. Screensavers have to be in the Windows or System directory
  14. to be recognised by the Windows Display device.  If you
  15. want, you can test the program in any directory by right-
  16. clicking on the BREWSTER.SCR file, and selecting 'Test' or
  17. 'Configure'.  But although you can also select 'Install'
  18. from this menu to run the Display device, you cannot
  19. actually install the program if it is not in the Windows
  20. or the System directory. Microsoft's bug, not mine!

  22. If you put the program in your System directory, when you
  23. save data it will create a copy of BREWSTER.DAT in the
  24. Windows directory.  This is because in networked systems,
  25. programs cannot write to the System directory.  If you run
  26. it from its own directory, it will save the data in that
  27. directory rather than in Windows.

  29. To un-install the program, just delete the same three files.
  30. If you have used the Help file, there will also be a file
  31. BREWSTER.GID to delete. Brewster does not write any other
  32. files - any patterns you save are stored in the BREWSTER.DAT
  33. file.

  35. Since screensavers are normally accessed via the control
  36. panel, no Start menu entry is created.
