  3. IMPORTANT: READ THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL GOTORUN.

  5. OVERVIEW
  6.  
  7. Gotorun logs all runs completed by long distance runners. Gotorun provides 
  8. you with tools necessary to help you analyse your run history and to keep you
  9. prepared for future runs.

  12. ABOUT THIS FILE
  13.  
  14. This file contains information concerning installation, compatibility and
  15. any other irregularities that may occur. Please read all the sections before
  16. you proceed with the installation.

  19. INSTALLATION NOTES
  20.  
  21. 1) If you have used Gotorun before
  22.      Please read the section below titled 'How to backup your data' before
  23.      you continue as a precaution before upgrading or re-installing Gotorun.
  24.      If you are upgrading from a previous version of Gotorun or re-installing
  25.      Gotorun, do NOT uninstall it, as this could cause loss of your Gotorun 
  26.      data. Continue with the installation as set out below. On completion 
  27.      read the topic 'Upgrading Existing Data' in the help file to link your
  28.      existing data with the new version of Gotorun, should it be necessary.
  29.      We recommend that you install Gotorun at the same location as the 
  30.      previous version.
  31.      You might have to remove some of the shortcuts installed by the previous
  32.      version of Gotorun, depending on your installation choices.

  34. 2) Installing Gotorun for Windows 95
  35.     * Unzip grs1_20.zip.
  36.     * From Control Panel in Windows 95 select Add/Remove Programs.
  37.     * Click install and give the path of the directory used above.
  38.     * The setup.exe program will guide you till completion.

  41. HOW TO BACKUP YOUR DATA
  42.  
  43. Be sure that Gotorun is not running when you backup your data. Below is a 
  44. brief description about the file structure of Gotorun and how to backup the 
  45. data.
  46.  
  47. 1) Program data
  48.      These data files resides in the Gotorun program files directory. These
  49.      files keep track of which group of runners is installed in which 
  50.      directory. 
  51.         * Select a disk or directory where you wish to backup this data
  52.         * Copy dbdat000.* from the Gotorun program files directory 
  53.           e.g. c:\program files\labmyc\gotorun\ to the backup disk/directory
  54.         * Check the backup disk/directory to verify that the files have been
  55.           copied correctly
  56.  
  57. 2) Group data
  58.      These data files exist for every group of runners. It is located in the
  59.      directories as specified in the 'Manage Groups' menu option in Gotorun. 
  60.      You will have to perform this operation for every group of runners that
  61.      you wish to backup.         
  62.         * Select a disk or directory where you wish to backup this group. 
  63.           Note that you cannot backup more than one group in the same 
  64.           directory as the file names is the same.
  65.         * Copy dbdat001.* and dbdat002.* from the directory where this data 
  66.           is stored e.g. c:\program files\labmyc\gotorun\mygroup\ to your 
  67.           backup disk/directory
  68.         * Check the backup disk/directory to verify that the files have been 
  69.           copied correctly

  72. KNOWN PROBLEMS
  73.  
  74. 1) Runner's history report
  75.      The page that is displayed will have an incorrect run count of 1 
  76.      instead of 0 if there are no runs logged for this runner.

  78. 2) All charts
  79.      Sometimes when the crosshair is displayed, the list of names do not
  80.      activate when selected by the user. To continue you can click on
  81.      another list, box or button.
