Gotorun for Windows 95
IMPORTANT: READ THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL GOTORUN.
OVERVIEW
Gotorun logs all runs completed by long distance runners. Gotorun provides
you with tools necessary to help you analyse your run history and to keep you
prepared for future runs.
ABOUT THIS FILE
This file contains information concerning installation, compatibility and
any other irregularities that may occur. Please read all the sections before
you proceed with the installation.
INSTALLATION NOTES
1) If you have used Gotorun before
Please read the section below titled 'How to backup your data' before
you continue as a precaution before upgrading or re-installing Gotorun.
If you are upgrading from a previous version of Gotorun or re-installing
Gotorun, do NOT uninstall it, as this could cause loss of your Gotorun
data. Continue with the installation as set out below. On completion
read the topic 'Upgrading Existing Data' in the help file to link your
existing data with the new version of Gotorun, should it be necessary.
We recommend that you install Gotorun at the same location as the
previous version.
You might have to remove some of the shortcuts installed by the previous
version of Gotorun, depending on your installation choices.
2) Installing Gotorun for Windows 95
* Unzip grs1_20.zip.
* From Control Panel in Windows 95 select Add/Remove Programs.
* Click install and give the path of the directory used above.
* The setup.exe program will guide you till completion.
HOW TO BACKUP YOUR DATA
Be sure that Gotorun is not running when you backup your data. Below is a
brief description about the file structure of Gotorun and how to backup the
data.
1) Program data
These data files resides in the Gotorun program files directory. These
files keep track of which group of runners is installed in which
directory.
* Select a disk or directory where you wish to backup this data
* Copy dbdat000.* from the Gotorun program files directory
e.g. c:\program files\labmyc\gotorun\ to the backup disk/directory
* Check the backup disk/directory to verify that the files have been
copied correctly
2) Group data
These data files exist for every group of runners. It is located in the
directories as specified in the 'Manage Groups' menu option in Gotorun.
You will have to perform this operation for every group of runners that
you wish to backup.
* Select a disk or directory where you wish to backup this group.
Note that you cannot backup more than one group in the same
directory as the file names is the same.
* Copy dbdat001.* and dbdat002.* from the directory where this data
is stored e.g. c:\program files\labmyc\gotorun\mygroup\ to your
backup disk/directory
* Check the backup disk/directory to verify that the files have been
copied correctly
KNOWN PROBLEMS
1) Runner's history report
The page that is displayed will have an incorrect run count of 1
instead of 0 if there are no runs logged for this runner.
2) All charts
Sometimes when the crosshair is displayed, the list of names do not
activate when selected by the user. To continue you can click on
another list, box or button.
