  3.           Welcome to The Walnut Creek CDROM Visions IX CDROM!

  6. This CDROM contains 75 stock photographs and images in 4 different
  7. image formats.  The images can be used without royalties, but may not
  8. be used on another image CDROM without adding value to the image
  9. such as using them in a multi-media presentation.
  10.  
  11. The images are in the following image formats and sizes:

  13.     BMP    1024x786     8 bit color    RGB
  14.     PICT    640x480    24 bit color    RGB
  15.     JPEG    640x480    24 bit color    RGB
  16.     TIFF  1526x1145    24 bit color   CMYK

  20. Quick Start Instructions:
  21.  
  22.   Windows 3.1:
  23.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  24.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.
  25.     This will install a group folder with icons for this cdrom.
  26.     To start the CDROM browser program, double click on the icon called
  27.     WinView.
  28.  
  29.   Windows 95:
  30.     Insert the cdrom into the cdrom drive.  This will automatically
  31.     start a CDROM browser program called WinView.
  32.     Alternatively, you can also install the program group and icon
  33.     by selecting the "Start" menu and choosing "Run".  At the Run
  34.     box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  36.  Windows NT:
  37.     Go to "File" menu under program manager and choose Run.  At the
  38.     Command Line box, type: "D:\setup", assuming 'D' is your cdrom drive.

  52. The files and applications on this cdrom are sorted by category.
  53. To access the files or applications just double-click on the item you
  54. are interested in.  If the files are compress or binhexed, you have
  55. to uncompress or unbinhex them before using.  There are utilities on this
  56. CDROM specifically for this task. They are in the 'MacUtils' Folder.

  58. Note: some folders include a readme document.  We advise that you
  59. read the readme document before opening any files or applications.

  84. Using the 00_INDEX.HTM files:

  86. We have included 00_index.htm files so the user may use a Web browser
  87. to view our disc.

  89. In order to view this disc using these 00_index.htm files, point your
  90. Web browser to the root level 00_index.htm file.

  92. For example, in Netscape/Mosaic:

  94.         1) Choose File/Open File (or File/Open Local File with Mosaic)
  95.         2) Choose your CDROM Drive under "Drives"
  96.         3) Select the 00_index.htm file
  97.         4) Click on OK

  99. The 00_index.htm files have been tested under Netscape 1.1 (Windows,
  100. Macintosh, and FreeBSD), Netscape 1.22 (Windows), Netscape 2.0b2,
  101. Mosaic 2.00 (Final Beta), and Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  105. Advanced image viewing using Powerview (the default image viewer.)
  106.  
  107. For an amazing "psychedelic" effect when viewing pictures under MSDOS:
  108.  
  109.    1) Be sure the disc is using its default viewer (Powerview).  If it
  110.       isn't, use the INSTALL.EXE program to switch to Powerview.
  111.  
  112.    2) Start up the VIEW program.
  113.  
  114.    3) Choose a directory that contains images.
  115.  
  116.    4) Choose an image.
  117.  
  118.    5) When the image is on your screen, press the "A" key.
  119.  
  120. Try some of the following keys:

  122. G ...................... Color-kill on\off (or greyscale)
  123.  
  124. I ...................... Inversion on\off
  125.  
  126. A ...................... Cycle palette on\off (press ESC, a mouse  button,  or
  127.                          "A" to stop cycling)

  129. C ...................... Component swap  (cycles  through  all combinations of
  130.                          the RGB components: RGB, RBG, BGR, etc.)
