  4. The NSEPro client software for Macintosh is provided in either a BinHex
  5. or a DOS executable format.  These files are located on the CD-ROM in the
  6. PROGRAMS\MAC folder (directory).
  7.  
  8. The BinHex file, MACVIEWS.BIN, can be copied directly from the CD-ROM to
  9. your Macintosh and decompressed using BinHex or StuffIt Expander v3.5.2.
  10. If you decompress the MACVIEWS.BIN file using BinHex, start with step 4
  11. below.
  12.  
  13. If you use the DOS executable file, MACVIEWS.EXE, start with step 1 below.
  14. Decompressing the MACVIEWS.BIN or MACVIEWS.EXE file creates a MACVIEWS.SEA
  15. file, which must be uncompressed on the Macintosh.
  16.  
  17. Perform steps 1 and 2 using a DOS workstation, and steps 3 through 7 using
  18. a Macintosh workstation.
  19.  
  20. 1.  Using a DOS workstation, log in to a file server that has NetWare for
  21.     Macintosh installed, copy the file MACVIEWS.EXE to a NetWare volume
  22.     that has Mac name space installed.
  23.  
  24. 2.  Explode the self-extracting file by typing the filename MACVIEWS at the
  25.     DOS prompt and then pressing Enter.
  26.  
  27. Perform the following steps from a Macintosh workstation:

  29. 3.  Log in to the file server where the MACVIEWS.SEA file is located.
  30.  
  31. 4.  After decompressing the MACVIEWS.BIN or MACVIEWS.EXE file, drag the
  32.     MACVIEWS.SEA file to the Macintosh hard drive.
  33.  
  34.     Note: Optionally, you can leave MACVIEWS.SEA on the server.  For
  35.     best performance, put the file on the hard drive.

  37. 5.  Double-click on the MACVIEWS.SEA file to extract the "NSEPro for Mac"
  38.     folder and its files.  This installs the NSE Macintosh client software.
  39.  
  40. 6.  Open the "NSEPro for Mac" folder and drag the "Folio Views" folder to the
  41.     Preferences folder inside the System Folder.  The path should be System
  42.     Folder/Preferences/Folio Views.
  43.  
  44. 7.  To use the NSEPro infobases from a Macintosh, you must have access to the
  45.     NSE_SYS.NFO (Network Systems), NSE_APP.NFO (Business Applications), or
  46.     NSE_GW.NFO (Workgroup Applications) file.
  47.  
  48.     NOTE:  You will not be able to open the .NFO files directly from the
  49.     CD-ROM drive on a Macintosh.  The .NFO files must be copied either to
  50.     the Macintosh hard drive or to the server.

  52.     If you have the NSEPro CD mounted as a volume on the server or copied
  53.     to a volume on a server, log in to the file server and mount the volume
  54.     that contains the NSE_SYS.NFO, NSE_APP.NFO, or NSE_GW.NFO file.  Open
  55.     the "NSEPro for Mac" folder and double-click on the Bound VIEWS 3.1a
  56.     application.  Once in Folio, pull down the File menu to Open (or click
  57.     the Open button on the Toolbelt), search for the file NSE_SYS.NFO, 
  58.     NSE_APP.NFO, or NSE_GW.NFO on the server, and double-click on the file
  59.     you wish to access.

  61. NOTE:  If using the CDROM.NLM that came with NetWare 3.12 or 4.01, update it
  62.        with the CDROMx.EXE (x is a number from 3 to 9) from
  63.        CompuServe/Novlib/Library 14.  At press time CDROM3.EXE was the
  64.        current file.  It is suggested that on the server at the console
  65.        prompt execute the command:

  67.        CD PURGE
  68.  
  69.        each time an update to the NSEPro CD is installed.  And then change
  70.        the mount statement for this nlm to:

  72.        CD MOUNT NSEPRO /MAC /W /R
  73.  
  74.        It may also be necessary to unload and the load AFP.NLM.  This will
  75.        allow the Macintosh to mount the CD as a volume.  For additional
  76.        information about this, read the CDROMx.TXT file inside of CDROMx.EXE.

  78. Tips:  To begin, either double-click on a book, or search the entire infobase
  79.        by pulling down the Search menu to Query or by clicking on the Query
  80.        button on the Toolbelt.  Additional New User Information is located in
  81.        the book titled "New User Info."  Then double-click on the menu item
  82.        titled "NSEPro Usage Tips."
