GeoTerm64 is an excellent terminal program for GEOS 64 but lacks the use of an ESCAPE key. Some BBS's require ESCAPE keypresses. With this simple patch program, you can define any of the existing function key definitions in GeoTerm64 to become an ESCAPE key.
Once you have defined one of GeoTerm's function keys this way, it will produce an ESCAPE character that GeoTerm will send to the modem any time the key is pressed. The escape definition will not be visible from GeoTerm's function key editor however. Nor will it be displayed when you type CMDR-F to display the settings on the screen. So, you will either have to remember that the particular key is defined as such or just load up this program again to view the definition to be sure.
Using this program is very simple. Start out by copying it to the disk that contains GeoTerm64. Then just double-click on the icon to start it.
A screen will come up that allows you to view you current function key settings. At the left is a listing of each possible function key set according to the names that you have given them. Click on the one you would like to edit. The definitions will be displayed in a window on the right of the screen.
You have a total of 8 function keys to use in GeoTerm. They are activated by pressing the CMDR key along with one of the numerical keys 1-8. If you press one of these key combinations now, you will see the definition change to an escape character that looks like <ESC>.
If you wish to save this change, click on the icon that says 'SAVE KEYS' and the set that is currently displayed will be saved. If you change your mind, either reopen this set by clicking on it's name at the left of the screen, or simply exit the program by clicking on the 'EXIT' icon.
You can now run GeoTerm64 and have the use of an escape key when you need it.
