  18.                MAX  Systems,  and  DataQue  Software  are  pleased to
  19.           announce  a  "joining  of  forces"  for  the development of
  20.           software  for  the  programming  and  control  of the CP290
  21.           Computer Interface made by X-10 (USA), Inc..

  24.                The  X-10  PowerHouse  system  is a wide collection of
  25.           hardware  for  use  in  controlling  electrical  devices of
  26.           nearly  any  type ranging from simple home lighting control
  27.           to  security  system  control to certain industrial process
  28.           control.

  31.                The X-10 PowerHouse is able to accomplish this control
  32.           WITHOUT  the need for expensive custom electrical wiring by
  33.           sending  the  control signals through the existing building
  34.           120vac  wiring  system.   The X-10 system is completely FCC
  35.           approved,  and carries the Underwriter's Laboratory seal of
  36.           approval.

  38.                The  applications  possible  with  the X-10 PowerHouse
  39.           system are limited only by the imagination of the user.

  42.                MAX  Systems  has  been,  for  the  last month, in the
  43.           development  stage  of a system called MAX-10 for the Atari
  44.           8-Bit  computers  to  allow  sophisticated  X-10 control by
  45.           means  of  a "dedicated" computer to increase the abilities
  46.           of  the  X-10 controller by adding, in effect, at least 64K
  47.           of RAM, a disk drive, and a CPU.
  48.           
  49.                MAX-10  will  allow  for  user-written  "modules"  for
  50.           special applications, an "artificially intelligent" ability
  51.           to  make decisions based on input, much more detailed timed
  52.           events,  and  many  other  features that will move the X-10
  53.           PowerHouse  into the range of much more expensive dedicated
  54.           control devices.

  56.                DataQue  brings  to  the MAX-10 project: many years of
  57.           programming  experience;  a  wealth  of  information in the
  58.           Heating,  Ventilating,  and Air Conditioning <HVA/C>; and a
  59.           strong background with many personal computer types.

  73.                These  valuable skills will allow, among other things,
  74.           for  MAX-10  to  be  "ported"  to  many  different personal
  75.           computers,  including:  Atari  8-Bit; Commodore 64/128; IBM
  76.           PC/"clone"; Atari ST; and Amiga.

  78.                While  each  version  will  take advantage of the host
  79.           computer's  abilities,  there will be much in common in the
  80.           user  interface  so that moving from one version to another
  81.           will be a simple matter for the MAX-10 user.
  82.           
  83.                The  planned  release  for  MAX-10  will be in several
  84.           stages,  with the Atari 8-Bit version being first, followed
  85.           by  the  Atari  ST,  IBM  PC/"clone", Commodore 64/128, and
  86.           Amiga.  For all machines, there will be several "stages" of
  87.           the  program:  A  Public  Domain demonstration; A Shareware
  88.           version  that  will  support  access  to  the X-10 unit; An
  89.           "entry  level"  commercial  version with more features than
  90.           the  Shareware version; And the complete commercial version
  91.           with full abilities.

  93.                Upgrade paths for owners of the "lower level" versions
  94.           will be provided.
