- =============== About our exciting Commodore contest ===========
-
- Win either a CMD RamLink or CMD FD-2000, software, books, or gifts
- of time in GEnie's Commodore 64/128 RT's Hot Summer Night uploading
- contest. How? By doing something cool that you probably do anyway,
- uploading software.
-
- Winning is easy. Just upload the most bytes each week, including
- bonus points, to win a weekly prize and upload the greatest total
- number of bytes, including bonus points, from August to September to
- win the grand prize.
-
- The rules are simple.
-
- 1) The files uploaded must be freely distributable.
-
- 2) If the file is a converted graphic or .GIF file you must be the
- original author or have the author's permission to distribute or
- convert the graphic into another format for uploading. This can be
- stated either in the file, on the file description, or in an e-mail to
- the Commodore$ staff.
-
- 3) The files have to be worth downloading. Any "junk" files being
- uploaded just to up the count will not be counted. If you would not
- want to download it, neither will anyone else. The Sysop staff decision
- on what is allowed in the contest and what will be counted is final. If the
- file is not allowed, you will be told within three days or before the file
- is made live.
-
- 4) No duplication of files already online. New, complete indexes will
- be provided for each library.
-
- 5) The contest runs from August 1st, 1994 to September 30th, 1994.
-
- 6) When grouping files the normal file compression standards apply
- (.sfx, .sda, .arc, .GIF, etc)
-
- 7) For each 1000k uploaded, which conforms to these guidelines and our
- usual guidelines for files, you get a (1) Hour Gift of Time on top of any
- other prizes.
-
- 8) Remember, uploading is free of connect charges!

- RoundTables (RTs) available around the world. Each RoundTable is focused

- cars, movies, family issues, medical, law, military and banking etc.
-
- Parsec, Inc. manages The Commodore RoundTable.
-
- Commodore users from all over the world participate in the many exciting
- features GEnie has to offer, including nightly Real Time Conferences
- (RTCs), monthly multi-player games, an active message area to post
- questions and get answers, exciting guests, prizes, and games such as
- Trivia, Hangman, Jumble, and Mastermind run on C-128s during our RTCs.
- Users can also gain access to over 14,000 files available in our libraries.
-
- It is the OFFICIAL GEOS SUPPORT network. The Commodore 64/128 RT is also
- the official support area for CMD, GEOS, COLOR64 BBS, Parsec, and others.
- The Commodore 64/128 RT is staffed by some of the best and brightest in
- the Commodore business.
-
- The monthly subscription fee is $8.95 per month which includes up to four

-
- =============== Hey, I need a modem! ===========================
- Parsec sells (call them used though they have never been actually used)
- C-1660 modems (300 baud) for $3.00 plus S&H (S&H = $4.25 US, $7.50 Canada,
- $12 Overseas). What you get is the C-1660 modem, a terminal program to use
- with the modem on GEnie, and an RJ-11 cable to plug into the wall. Sure,
- it is only 300 baud, but you know what they say, something is better than
- nothing. Plus it is a good modem to buy if you are only testing the "online"
- waters. If you decide you like being online you can always buy a more
- powerful and faster modem.
-
- CMD also sells modems and interfaces.
