  13. Win either a CMD RamLink or CMD FD-2000, software, books, or gifts
  14. of time in GEnie's Commodore 64/128 RT's Hot Summer Night uploading
  15. contest.  How? By doing something cool that you probably do anyway,
  16. uploading software.
  17.  
  18. Winning is easy.  Just upload the most bytes each week, including
  19. bonus points, to win a weekly prize and upload the greatest total
  20. number of bytes, including bonus points, from August to September to
  21. win the grand prize.
  22.  
  23. The rules are simple.
  24.  
  25. 1) The files uploaded must be freely distributable.
  26.  
  27. 2) If the file is a converted graphic or .GIF file you must be the
  28. original author or have the author's permission to distribute or
  29. convert the graphic into another format for uploading.  This can be
  30. stated either in the file, on the file description, or in an e-mail to
  31. the Commodore$ staff.
  32.  
  33. 3) The files have to be worth downloading.  Any "junk" files being
  34. uploaded just to up the count will not be counted.  If you would not
  35. want to download it, neither will anyone else.  The Sysop staff decision
  36. on what is allowed in the contest and what will be counted is final. If the
  37. file is not allowed, you will be told within three days or before the file
  38. is made live.

  40. 4) No duplication of files already online.  New, complete indexes will
  41. be provided for each library.
  42.  
  43. 5) The contest runs from August 1st, 1994 to September 30th, 1994.
  44.  
  45. 6) When grouping files the normal file compression standards apply
  46. (.sfx, .sda, .arc, .GIF, etc)
  47.  
  48. 7) For each 1000k uploaded, which conforms to these guidelines and our
  49. usual guidelines for files, you get a (1) Hour Gift of Time on top of any 
  50. other prizes.

  52. 8) Remember, uploading is free of connect charges!

  82. The person that uploads the greatest number of bytes wins the Grand
  83. Prize which is a CMD Ramlink or CMD FD-2000, your choice.

  85. "GOT highest K that week" means a (1) hour or (2) hour Gift of Time
  86. for uploading the most bytes that week, including any bonus points.
  87. There will also be a weekly game where you can win books and software.

  169. Parsec sells (call them used though they have never been actually used)
  170. C-1660 modems (300 baud) for $3.00 plus S&H (S&H = $4.25 US, $7.50 Canada,
  171. $12 Overseas).  What you get is the C-1660 modem, a terminal program to use
  172. with the modem on GEnie, and an RJ-11 cable to plug into the wall.  Sure,
  173. it is only 300 baud, but you know what they say, something is better than
  174. nothing. Plus it is a good modem to buy if you are only testing the "online"
  175. waters.  If you decide you like being online you can always buy a more
  176. powerful and faster modem.
