- Would anyone be interested in trading a GOOD CONDITION C-128D for an
- Amiga-500 setup? Here's what I have for the A500:
-
- Amiga 500 upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3 ROM with upgrade disks and
- supplemental documentation, as well as original 1.2 documentation.
- AmigaBASIC reference manual and AmigaDOS manual (covering up to 2.04)
- and a bunch of generic software that I downloaded from local BBS's.
- Pyramid-512k RAM expander with battery-backed clock/calendar.
- ROCTEC ROClite external 3.5" drive with virus-protection mode.
- About 5 commercial games.
- New mouse.
- Green-Screen Monitor
-
- I would be willing to trade all of the above for a NICE C-128D with
- a properly aligned internal drive.
-
- I have been wanting a C-128D for a long time and even though I have
- about $500 wrapped up in this Amiga, I would much rather have a
- C-128D to match my 1084D monitor...
-
- I just hope I can transfer my JiffyDOS chips into a 128D from a FLAT
- 128!?!!
-
- Thanks,

-
- P.S. I also have a registered copy of CROSS-DOS with the PC

- GOOD! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is sticking with the old 8-bit stuff!
- With all the weird operating system upgrades and software incompatibilities, I
- think the Amiga is going to get left behind by the new MS-DOS machines that
- have better graphics and sound as well as higher speed and more memory! The
- Amiga is a cool game machine, but for programming (my favorite thing to do),
- it's a little frustrating and difficult to learn...

- Schwartz, I know we are a little off-topic BUT I need to defend the Amiga
- line!
-
- You can't compare an Amiga against ANY MS-DOS machines! The Amiga was first
- designed a long time ago with not "games" in mind. It was partially designed
- for production means. Almost everywhere you look in broadcasting(BABYLON 5,
- SEA QUEST, UNSOLVED MYSTERIES etc....) there are Amigas behind each
- production. I can't recall which animations they are used in. I think "Beauty
- and the Beast" and a few more.
-
- Has anyone heard of Virtual Reality? The base computer is an Amiga!
-
- Then we can talk about the Sound digitizing end also.........
-
- The game end is okay, graphics(now AGA to the AAA video chip set) are okay. I
- wouldn't dream of replacing my Amiga with a so-called-new MS-Dos system.
-
- I still love the 128/64 stuff also.

- I use to repair C-128s. I had one that was butchered in experiments
- and the other one looked like it got stepped on. Neither one was worth
- repairing so I had just sold both parties good used 128s and kept these
- for spares. Recently I decided to put both together and get one good
- one for Fred Ogle :) I removed the keyboard PCB from one, put it in
- the one with the clean keys (other guy was a smoker PLUS he ran a cable
- from the motherboard to keyboard to get a 128Dish keyboard).
-
- One had a butchered VDC job that blew the CIA chips, which I sort of fixed
- but could not track down a PLA/MMU problem. So I took the good remaining
- chips and put that into the know good flat 128 motherboard. Then I took
- the good case from a third (alive) 128 in poor shape (one with removable
- keyboard), removed the labels and made a almost working C-128. Worked
- fine except when transfering the wire harness I forgot a wire somewhere
- so the left shift/caps lock keys didnt work. In short three flat 128s
- gave their lifes and innards for a C-128 Fred could use :)
-
- Figure since key cap assemblies are hard to find and expensive if you
- do, I would part out the guts worth parting out :)
-
- Guess it was a tale for Oct and Halloween ;D
