  113. Hey, I need a modem! 
  114. Parsec sells (call them used though they have never been actually used)
  115. C-1660 modems (300 baud) for $3.00 plus S&H (S&H = $4.25 US, $7.50 Canada,
  116. $12 Overseas).  What you get is the C-1660 modem, a terminal program to use
  117. with the modem on GEnie, and an RJ-11 cable to plug into the wall.  Sure,
  118. it is only 300 baud, but you know what they say, something is better than
  119. nothing. Plus it is a good modem to buy if you are only testing the
  120. "online"waters.  If you decide you like being online you can always buy a
  121. more powerful and faster modem. CMD also sells modems and interfaces.

  133. GEnie's Commodore 64/128 RoundTables Fall 94 Contest
  134.  
  135. Win CMD gift certificates, software, books, and gifts of time in GEnie's
  136. Commodore 64/128 RT's "FALL In With Us" contest. How? By doing something
  137. cool that you probably do anyway, uploading software.
  138.  
  139. Winning is easy.  Just upload the most bytes each week to win a weekly
  140. prize and upload the greatest total number of bytes from October 16th to
  141. December 31st to win the grand prize.
  142.  
  143. The rules are simple.
  144.  
  145. 1) The files uploaded must be freely distributable.
  146.  
  147. 2) If the file is a converted graphic (Example from MacPaint) or .GIF file
  148. you must be the original author or have the author's permission to
  149. distribute or convert the graphic into another format for uploading.  This
  150. can be stated either in the file, on the file description, or in an e-mail
  151. to the Commodore$ staff. Any .GIF files have to be decent looking when
  152. displayed on the C-64 to be included in the contest. .RAW sound files have
  153. to be in compressed format (.sda, .arc, .sfx).

  155. 3) The files have to be worth downloading.  Any "junk" files being uploaded
  156. just to up the count will not be counted.  Files not compressed that are
  157. normally compressed (.arc, .sda, .sfx) will not be accepted unless the
  158. software could not compress the data further.  Koala and Doodle files have
  159. to be uploaded in their normal gg/jj compressed formats. Remember, if you
  160. would not want to download it, neither will anyone else.  We want to add
  161. value to the libraries for our members. The Sysop staff decision on what is
  162. allowed in the contest and what will be counted is final.
  163.  
  164. 4) No duplication of files already online.  New, complete indexes will be
  165. provided for each library.
  166.  
  167. 5) The contest runs from October 16th, 1994 to December 25th, 1994.
  168.  
  169. 6) When grouping files together for uploading the normal file compression
  170. standards apply (.sfx, .sda, .arc, .GIF, etc).  Koala (gg) and Doodle (jj)
  171. files should be uploaded individually.  This is so a person does not have
  172. to download a massive archived file just to view one graphic.
  173.  
  174. 7) For each 1000k uploaded, which conforms to these guidelines and our
  175. usual guidelines for files, you get a (1) Hour Gift of Time on top of any
  176. other prizes.

  178. 8) Remember, uploading is free of connect charges!

  213. the visiting Halloween scary during October, a turkey during November, and
  214. Santa Claus in December who will give away even more prizes during our RTCs
