- Exit the BB or type M625;11 and leave all Wizard related questions
- on that board under the right topic.
- Besides being *free* and is also the best place for the questions and
- answers - under one roof. You may also see a post that will solve
- your problems.
-
- Not a "cop-out" but to direct you to the right place for the best service.
- A lot of effort and thought went into getting the Wizard board there and as
- a free Basic service. We might as well use it 100%.

- It is not unusual for a nine pin printer to make two passes per line for
- NLQ (near letter quality) mode or for bold print. What the printer does is
- make one pass printing a normal character and then advances the paper
- slightly
- and prints the same image again. That way it fills in the spaces and makes
- the character a bit fatter or bolder.
-
- re:print at 80 columns
- Hard to tell without knowing what term you are using but usually you can set
- the lenght. You can also use one of the many print utilities here online
- to strip carriage returns so you can print out captured text files at
- 80 characters per line.

-
- Thanks! That's good news that gateWay is now being shipped.
-
- SPORT.COM was shipped on disk to owners of CMD's HD, and is also on CMD'S bbs.
- I think (but am not sure) that the guys at CMD were surprised to hear that
- SPORT.COM worked so well with the RL. It's not a public domain application,
- however. CMD owns it.
-
- Any registered owner of CMD's HD and RL have access to the file which is in
- the CMD file library. So long as the caller has registered, he/she is given
- access to any of these libraries.
-
- I routinely log-on CMD's bbs. If you'd like me to leave a note asking them to
- send you a disk, let me know.

- I sure agree with what you've said. At best it is a nuisance, and at worst
- down right inconvenient to have to rely of drive #8 for running things, or
- parts of things.
-
- Perhaps someone else may have the info you need for the 128D. I've set up my
- flat 128 with a 1581 as drive 8, and one of the 1571's at #10. I installed a
- little black box to that 1571, duplicating its dip switches (after cutting out
- the dips in the 1571), and the box sits up front, so I can make it into a
- drive #8 when required.
-
- I've found that the only times I need to use the box are for copy protected
- disks, that return to drive #8 for parts. *NONE* of the software I run needs
- this so I rarely use it. Quite a few things require drive #8 for its parts,
- and all these things are on the 1581.
-
- I think, but am not sure, that JBEE has a 128D and may know how to do this.

- Actually I don't own a C128D ( I have three flats:) but will have one in
- a few days. Twin Cities 128 ran a short article about "dipping your D"
- and once I get the masters for all the issues I might make it live

-
- Usually they are "pads" with a small line in between which you can cut

- I would tell you where they are and how to cut them but my service

- Locate inside the 128D two jumper pads located on the left side of the VIA
- chip 65c22 as viewed from the front of the computer. Pad 1 is the closest to
- the front. Pad 1 and pad 2 shorted or closed is device 8 (this is how it

- If my memory serves me correct, the 8023 was designed for the IEEE bus of the
- PET's. If the port for the connection to the computer looks something like a
- centronics parallel rather than the conector used for the C64's serial bus,
- then this is the case. In order to use it with the 64, you would need an IEEE
- interface. These were made by several different companys, but they usually go
- for at least $100 used.
-
- If I'm correct about it being an IEEE printer and you arn't interested in
- investing in the interface, would you be interested in selling it. I have a
- PET and would be interested in buying it. I have written a wedge in order to
- use my Panisonic with it, but it doesn't work with all software.

- The 8023 is an IEEE machine, it doesnt work with much of the graphic
- software and print quality is not good. But, it is wide carriage, is about
- 100 cps, and it's free. A used interface can be had for about $25 if you
- look hard enough. I agree though that I wouldn't bother going out and
- spending big bucks for an interface because you can buy brand new 9 pin
- printers for $140 that are far superior. I guess the question for you is
- if it's worth the $25-$35 to buy a used interface. If not I would give it
- away to someone who can use it or wants it. They were good printers and mine

- I have a Seikosha SP-1200 VC which should be much the same as your 1000.
- Although I haven't used it with GEOS lately, I do remember that it worked well
- with one of the CBM compatable drivers that came with GEOS. If you are getting
- extra linefeeds, you may want to check the setting of the DIP switch for
- carrage returns. If it is ON then switch it to OFF and try it again. I also
- remember having a two pass driver for the Seikosh that is somewhat like those
- enhanced drivers for the Epson compatables. I will check my archive disks and
- if I can find it and it isn't already in the library ( I will let you know if
- it already is there ) I will upload it.
-
- As far as the Epson compatable feature, it is a sometimes thing. I have found
- that it does work with some graphic dumps ( a MacPaint viewer that I have
- comes to mind ), but there are others that just don't function corectly.
- Unfortunately, those enhanced Epson drivers are among those that I didn't have
- any luck with. Although, because I also have a Panisonic 1180, I didn't spend
- all that much time trying to get one of those drivers to work. If you have the
- time to experiment you may be able to get it to work. I would suggest
- downloading the Lasermatrix editor file which would let you modify the escape
- codes of an existing driver. Who knows, you might get it to work.
-

- I had a 1000vc for a week and I think why it doesnt work with the
- multi-pass drivers is the fact that it doesn't have the horizontal OR the
- vertical resolution of the Epson (or clones). Which makes the printout
- rougher than that of a Epson.
- I tested it with Pagefox and the quadstrike (240 dpi) is what makes the
- Epson drivers so nice. I don't believe this is supported at all on the
- Seikosha Sp-1xxx VC printers.

- Comparing the manuals for both my Seikosha and Panisonic, I find that they
- both use the same codes for bits per inch, N/216 linefeed, etc.. Although, the
- Seikosha manual said that when set to 240 DPI it would only print every other
- dot and ignore those in between. So, in effect, you only end up with a max of
- 120 DPI, but it should work ( at least this shouldn't be the reason why it

- I just got offline from it an hour ago. Bah!
-
- Why would a magazine dedicated to commodore 64/128 machines (the only)
- magazine I might add) run a BBS on an MS-DOS machine and have barely enough
- files to qualify as a commodore support board?
-
- I read some posts from callers saying that they did in fact UL files to it
- but never saw them again.
-
- RUN used to have a section on Q-Link called "RUN Archives" in which they had
- several GOOD files for the 128/64 machines. I don't think it's even there any
- more.
-
- Makes no sense to me.

- This topic is for those sysops who run the DTJ-BBS or for those who are
- interested in running this software. The DTJ-BBS is a Commodore 64 discussion
- system designed to look like a PC program.

-
- This topic is for messages pertaining to the DTJ-BBS.
-
- The DTJ-BBS is a shareware program for the C64. (It's available on GEnie and
- Qlink.) It runs similar to the Citadel group of discussion-oriented programs
- that run on other computers.
-
- The DTJ-BBS is somewhat unique for a Commodore program in that it does not
- support Commodore color graphics. It was written for sysops who don't want
- color graphics, but want something a little more serious looking. This
- software is primarily a discussion system; it encourages message posting more
- than other things like file transfers (although file libraries are supported).
-
- DTJ-BBS features up to 50 user-creatable message bases, 15 SIGs, 3500
- messages, 4000+ character free-form message editor, 999 users, email (normal,
- urgent, & certified), external modules, Xmodem/Punter/ASCII(xon/xoff)
- protocols (with more planned), "twit" handler, optional profanity checker,
- word-wrapping to the READER's video width, sysop and SIGop commands, and more.
- Sysop/SIGop commands include enable/disable system, edit accounts, create &
- edit files, DOS mode, create/rename/delete message bases & sigs, read any
- email, kill or edit messages, and much more.
-
- This software supports all serial-port drives (1541/71/81, ICT & CMD HD, etc),
- 1650/60/70 or Hayes compatable modems (2400bps or 38400bps with a Swiftlink-
- 232 cartridge), optional CBM or ASCII printer (for audit trails), and optional
- battery-backed clock/calendar hardware. JiffyDOS compatable, but other ROM-
- based cartridges or modifications may not work.
-
- This software is unique but easy to learn and very easy to use. It's almost
- completely self-maintaining... all you have to do is validate new users and
- new upload files. It's also very fast. Many users think the DTJ-BBS runs on
- a PC!
-
- If you have questions or need help, leave a reply here or call the support
- board at 702-553-2869.

- I ordered 4.3 amp power supplies (finally got them today after ordering
- them twice :p ) for the upgraded REUs for use on a C64. After talking
- with a few people I dont think the 1.8 are HD enough for long term use.
- The 4.3 amp power supplies are C-128 ps. with a C64 plug on the end in case
- you are wondering.
-
- Amford, no offense but please post another For Sale message in a new topic.
- I dont mind you posting on my message, it is just that I cant readily buy
- REUs at a decent price anymore so I have to delete this topic along with
- some others this weekend.
-
- I am sure at $95 though you will have a taker as it is a good price for
- 512k !
