ADDmerge
This program operates on a set of files
(each less than one-page long) created by
geoMerge, all of which have the same filename,
followed by a sequential number. The program
combines these files into one geoWrite
document with the name of the first file.
In the DEFAULT mode, there will be seven
files per page in the combined document,
separated by two blank lines. Each of the
original files must contain no more than 1000
bytes. Except for the first, the original
files remain on the disk, unchanged.
INSTRUCTIONS FOLLOW
***CLICK MOUSE TO GO ON***
Have all the merge files on one disk,
preferably, but not necessarily, the same one
that ADDmerge is on. Open ADDmerge. Select
'Combine Files' from the 'File' menu. When the
Select File menu appears, select the name of
the first of your files. You can also change
disks, or (if you have two drives) change
drives from this menu. Click on OPEN, and the
documents will be combined. When the last file
on the disk (with the selected name) has been
read into the buffer, you will receive a
'File Not Found' message. Click on OK and the
combined file will be written to the disk,
the file will be closed, and you will return
to the desktop.
***CLICK MOUSE TO GO ON***
CHANGING THE DEFAULT SETTINGS
You may select 2 to 10 items per page (7 is
default) by using the 'Items/Page' menu before
you combine files. If your original files are
more that 1000 bytes long, you will receive a
'Buffer Overflow' error message. You may wish
to change the default limit, using the
'Max Bytes/Item' menu. These are one-time
changes to ADDmerge--not written to disk.
