Bob, this also makes up a line like --------mail------, as a program file.
So in Dialogue, when you want to load a file, it only lists seq files.
I changed the file from p to s using Dedit, so they all show up.
Bob, check my page, http://people.delphi.com/novan, still working on it,
not many links yet, but getting there :)

################## Zip Archive Announcement=20
######## =20
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
For those who are having trouble reading issue 12 or 13 diue to their
large size will be happy to learn that these two issues are now available
on the Commodore Hacking MAILSERV server as PKZIP1.1 compatible zip
archives. Each archive contains each issue separated into individual
articles. In addition, each binary files included in the issue is availa=
ble
in "ready-to-run" format. No more worrying about decoding the binaries
before downloading, or having to printout the entire issue just to read i=
t.
Now, you can print out individual articles, and run the applications=20
immediately after unarchiving.
Included in each archive is a special file called "order.lst" that contai=
ns
the names of the text files as they were assembled to create the magazine=
=20
issue. Commodore Hacking is looking for the following help:
For each of the following platforms, C=3DH wants to include a program whi=
ch=20
will print out an issue in the order specified in this "order.lst" file.
For each platform, the respective program should ask the user the locatio=
n
of the printer, offer to issue a form feed at the end of each article,
and use the order.lst file to print out the complete issue. For all
environments, programs that ignore case in filenames are preferred.
Also, for the Commodore environments, the option to print the file as
PETSCII or as ASCII would be beneficial, as the articles are in ASCII for=
mat.
The environments are:
DOS
UNIX (sh script)
CBM 64
CBM 128
Any other environments are also considered.
Thank You.

Wrong. There IS a program that one can compile under Unix to convert a=20

So there!

I posted this earlier, but nobody replied ... I'm really hoping
someone out there might know what is wrong and/or have suggestions on
repairing it!
My C128D acts very oddly. All keys work fine except for the keys 7,
Y, G, V, 8, U, H, and B. Those keys do semi-random things, as if
there's a short somewhere between the rows/columns of the keyboard
matrix. It isn't the CIA chip; I've tried 3 of them. It isn't the
keyboard; it works fine on other computers (with a DB25
gender-changer, it'll work on a flat 128). I suspect a bad trace on
the motherboard between the CIA and the keyboard connector.
I looked in the keyboard matrix table in the 128 PRG, and the bad keys
are all in the same column. In C64 mode, the keys that the computer
thinks you hit when you press one of the bad keys are keys from the 3
columns to the right of the "bad column" but in the same row as the
key that was actually pressed. But in 128 mode, they seem pretty
random--some act as if SHIFT was pressed, even!
I'm totally befuddled by this. Has anyone out there experienced
anything like this?

Please help me anyone, FRAK is driving me mad. I posted a help message
last week and nobody answered. Please, please there must be someone out
there who played this game and knows how to get past level 4!
Here is the original message, detailing the problem....
>Level four is an Ice type level, all decked out in blue and contains

>seemed the end of the platforms and there are two monsters that block th=

Look also for any component on that line (column 3), which is the
keyboard connector CN5 pin 17. There are several tiny capactors and a
diode that act to keep the line clean of noise. If, for example, the
line were being held down by a leaky cap (normally has 5 VPP pulses on
it), the response from the CIA chip would be false. For comparison,
check the other columns. The voltage swing should be "rail to rail",
that is, nearly all the way to +5 and ground. The only way to see
what's happening is with an oscilloscope. As you said, a resistance
check of the traces is in order. Column 3 is common to all of those
keys. Anything that would let noise enter on that line (such as a
crack in the board) will cause erratic operation.

I did once. Took me a long time to figure out it was joystick port 1

I think that Softwre Support International still has copies No. c014069=20

Yes, there are many places for parts. One of the bigest is Kasara=20
Microsystems at 1-800-248-2983. Another is Creative Micro Designs at=20
1-800-638-3263. Still another is Paxtron at 1-800-595-5534, let me know=20
if you need any more. :) By the way-before you power up that system, get=
=20
yourself a grounding strap (or attach a wire to a ring and wear the ring)=
=20
and attach it to ground (the screw that holds the face plate of a=20
electral outlet works well), and clean it out with isopropyl alachol. =20
Other wise you might burn it out when you try to run it.
Another tip is to put a fan on the 1541 and power supplies when running=20
them, makes them last MUCH longer. And when you are cleaning, BE=20
CAREFUL! Use cotton swabs and watch you don't scrach any heads in the=20
1541. YOu might want to buy a little computer vacume and suck all the=20
dust out before you use the swabs (less chance of scratching that way).
Let me know if you have any problems. :)
