Here is a little util I wrote for various platforms in ANSI-C.
A DOS compilation is included in uuencoded format and I can't send=20
it to you any other way. For decoding: uudecode p2a.uue
Sometimes a char gets lost on the way so the program will crash,
tell me and I'll remail
=20
FILE: p2a.uue

You know, with all this bitching about licensing software, its no wond=
er
no one wants to write software for the 64 anymore. If folks aren't
bitching about the price, they bitch about not being able to copy it and
use on as many machines as they like. And if they aren't bitching about
that, then its the support.

Actually many people fall into this category. Why do you think they
specified this in the license? Because folks will buy one copy and run i=
t
on 10 machines in their business or at home. The idea isn't to sell one
peice of software per person, the idea is to sell one peice of software p=
er
machine.

Yes, I actually used to own a calculator with the Commodore name on it.
Too bad I haven't got it left, it would be a nice memory...

I noticed that digitized sound/speech played at a much lower volume on

I've noticed that in the Tournament game with 1 player and 3 computer=20
players:
The computer players (mechtrons) always get first shot at plots, even if=20
you press the button immediately. There's nothing to override their=20
dominance in this department (I've only played with Flapper and Human, so=
=20
I am not sure if the E.T. guy with the long neck or the fat, round=20
friend-of-sienfeld-on-that-show farmer-dude looking guy gets first shot.
The Pirate ship will come if Crystite production is high in most or all=20
plots (if its late in the game). This could,of course, be random, but it=20
seems to have some sort of pattern to it.
Plots with "No crystite found in plot" will nevertheless still produce=20
crystite if your energy is high enough (I had a No Crystite plot produce=20
7 units once).
An easy way to push your money past 20,000 or more is have a game where=20
there's repeated Fire's in the Store and food and energy prices skyrocket=
=20
past 200 a unit. If you stockpile food and energy during these lean=20
months, you could be sitting pretty by the 10th or 11th months. And, of=20
course, always _ALWAYS_ stockpile Crystite plots. IMHO, Smithore is crap=20
and therefore should never, ever be mined. (There was one game,however,=20
where the price hit an amazing 250 per unit for Smithore. The Mechtron=20
who had 71 units of it ended up with 25,000+ by the 7th month. But I had=20
38,750 by the 12th in money so I still won first founder) hehehe ;)

Why bother with the modem? Why not just use a null modem cable
between the machines, and then you are not restricted by modem speeds.

These are the files for the BBS software 'Color64'. They are compressed
with Madman Software's CKit... I can't recall the name of the freeware
file that is used to uncompress these...

The player who's score/status is least, gets first shot at plots, buy/
selling/etc. That allows the underdog to always get first chance at thin=
gs.
(even if it's a computer player!)

The pirate ship follows random patterns (like most everything else). I=
f
it comes in an early round, it will show up again around round 11. If it
comes around round 5-7, then it will not likely come again. A good strat=
egy
it so mine Smithore for he first few rounds. If the pirates come, then=20
switch to Crystite and be rich until round 11!

>=20
Production of products is not simply dependant upon the plot you build
upon. You will also get production for having EXPERIENCE, which comes
from having multiple plots producing the same product. You will produce
even MORE of the product if you have the same product plots physically
adjacent to each other. GROUP YOUR PLOTS!! This is a major key to
successful MULEing! So you could have all one product, and produce goodi=
es
on all the plots quite successfully. Although, unless the computer or fe=
llow
human players are willing to share, you will be rather..um.. unsuccessful.

The Flapper can get the last plot (only one remaining plot) if he is
lucky,=20
the Human is not bad but he gets the short end of the deal most times.

Only 38750? My best is 56353, Flapper against the computers, the best=20
game as a group was 129,000. I have never done 130K+ games, yet.
Smithore isn't crap, but it used to make MULEs, so a neat why of=20
driving up the cost of Smithore is releasing MULEs! I have gotten
Smithore from 53 to 240 in one round that way, also the fire helped!
Also selling Crystite at 144 with 135 units helps get those REALLY high
scores!!
