- Some personal notes which will hopefully be of some interest to fellow
- "Commies".
-
-
- Firstly, a buddy in Arizona is helping me out with some new hardware, =
- which
- means that I'll be able to put the Commodore telnet BBS back up very soon.
- I'll post the address when it goes back up.
-
- Also, I just got done with a massive set of pages dedicated to Commodo=
- re
- BBS programs. It includes seperate pages for some 25+ BBS programs, comp=
- lete
- with details reviews, some documentations, and where appropriate, some=20
- downloadable programs.
-
- Lastly, my Commodore page is expanding as well-- within the week I'll
- have a new page off my Commodore page which will be a kind of "strouds" s=
- ight
- for Commodore users-- every PD and shareware program Commodore users must
- have. There will also be something there for GEOS users, and some misc P=
- D
- programs. They are all on HTML pages, which means you need need to use L=
- YNX,
- or if you have a PEE-SEE, Netscape is preferable (where the heck is that
- "WAVE" thing?!?!)
-
- The address for my Commodore page is http://www.swt.edu/~ez13942/commi=
- e
- The address for the BBS programs page (which is also a link off my
- Commodore page) is http://www.swt.edu/~ez13942/bbs

- The new pages will also appear as links off my Commodore page, so kee=

- You don't need the Swiftlink on a PLUS/4. The Swiftlink is for the
- 64 and 128 because they do no have a real UART chip, only a software
- emulation. The PLUS/4 has a real UART chip on the User Port RS-232=20

- There is the freeware Server64, that however has some bugs that aren't
- very nice. You can get it from ccnga.uwaterloo.ca somewhere.=20
-
- The best thing about Server64 is that it behaves just like a normal
- drive, you just LOAD"$",8 and get the directory of the PC.
-
- Then there is the commercial 64Net, which needs a wedge to be loaded
- on the Commodore. According to some sources, however, the author is
- working on a version that will work directly without a wedge (like
- Server64). When that comes out, I think I'll buy it.

- I've seen it all in GEOS I thought.
-
- Well, actually I've seen this too, come to think of it.
-
- Couple of possibilities:
-
- 1. The new joystick from CMD will freak out your mouse if plugged in th=
- e
- other port.
-
- 2. The mouse will freak out if your SID chip is going bad. It's typica=
- lly
- first part of that chip to go.
-
- 3. Your mouse could be dirty? (if it's a 1351, that's probably not it=20
- though-- those damn things repel dirt I think, but check it out).
-
-
- That's it. I would firstly make sure nothing is in the other joystick
- port, then try your mouse in something besides GEOS to see if the problem
- follows the mouse around. I will almost guarentee you the geoCable is
- not at fault, but I'm not sure how PP-LQ works. Is it a driver of some
- sort? Remove them all the same and see if that fixes it. Next, clean
- your mouse. Lastly, start worrying about the SID chip.

- Matt himself. :) Who knows?
-
- What will be coming is RTS/CTS flow control and something I can't=20
- remember right now :)
-
- That's all I know about DesTerm. :)
