condition, maybe used one or two times. Most all come
with documentation.
Will sell most games from $5.00 to 10.00  and a possible
package discount if you buy more than one game.

   The problem was with the scrolling and "Pine version 3.93"
   Contacted Nick Rossi and the problem is fixed with Novaterm 9.6
   My local freenet also fixed the problem with Pine 3.9

How do I dessolve files that I download from ftp sites for the commodore
when they are archived by a IBM, like [.arc .lbr .lzh] ECT.

Can some one please tell me if there is a way to extract the programs
from the files as you are downloading or before you download?

Yup. My father has a DeskJet-compatible printer (an Olivetti JP150W),
and it prints perfectly fine from GEOS.

Yup. But I think I used an HP LaserJet driver, instead of a DeskJet
one. I'm not completely certain, though, since it was ages since I
used it.

Not as far as I know. The printer we have can get that if you install
an emulation cartridge in it, I don't know about the "real stuff".

I've had several different setups over time.  I have a nice SID collection
which I used to enjoy playing over my stereo while I studied.  Only problem
was the added wires running all over the place.  I even have a small
network of RJ11 jacks running between the 'play'/commodore room and my
bedroom in order to pipe sound back and forth.

.lbr??

As for .zip, the best way to deark them is with that venerable
utility, PKUNZIP.EXE or unzip.exe. There is a Commodore version of
this but I think it only handles small ones of version 1.04 or
lower. Look for it on FTP: ftp.armory.com/pub/user/spectre/UTIL-C64.

.arc files are dearked with Arc. The latest version I had was 2.5,
but I don't know where the disk went.

You should also be aware of .lnx, the Lynx format; a decoder/encoder
is in ftp.armory.com/pub/user/spectre/lynx.

A file name ending with .arc or .lbr was probably archived under CP/M.
You can find CP/M programs to extract those files at oak.oakland.edu in
the /pub/cpm/arc-lbr directory (or something like that; it's been a while
since I looked there).

If a file was compressed with Unix compress or gzip, (.Z, .z or .gz), you
might be able to get it uncompressed by asking for the filename without
the .Z or .gz, but this doesn't work with other forms of compression.

I am selling off these parts from my 386 system, which I upgraded recently.

I think you are completely wrong on this point...
normal 1541 DOS uses 10-sector interleave.  Using j-dos to read a 1541
disk should only take the time of two MAX. sectors to go by so even in
1541 mode (j-dos on) it would have plenty of time to set up for the next
sector even if it was written on a 1571 using an interleave of four...
1571 interleave DOES NOT EQUAL fastloading... At least, not exclusively.
Now, if j-dos was disabled, then the smaller interleave value would cause
normal 1541 DOS to read solwer than normal cause it would need to wait for
13 unnecessary sectors to pass by, but I have done this and it dosen't
really add up to more than 15% longer so interleave isn't the critical
speed hinge.

Much more likely that the j-dos vector ($0330)was reset to use the stock
load routine, this would have caused the fastloader to be bypassed...
Or, the drive needed to be reset- enter:
@uj
and see if that cures it...

As far as UNZIP128/64 goes, you are correct on the older V1.xx version
of PKZIP, but there is no size limitation other than disk space.

comp.binaries.cbm isn't operative at the mo because it has no moderator.

So is there anything stopping us from using alt.binaries.warez.cbm?

It seems nearly totally empty and according to my lists is unmoderated.
It would be nice to have a place to dump the occasional file...  =-)

There are several Geos programs that can put up "screens" to video tape.
PicShow can and you can use Scrapit to make GEOPaints into Koalas to
use in the "slideshow"
CMD sells a commercial one.
A program called Sid Writer is cool for putting jusr colored text
up and playing music with it.
On Genie there is a GeoBasic Demo program that can do a screen and
save and recall it.
Heck jusr remember what ever is on the screen can be recorded or
projected (with an LCD and overhead) on to a screen.
Even the old Autograph program could serve a a video titler if
you know where the pause button is on your recorder.
Hey even Stereo SID Player 10.? would do and yo could have music in
stereo.  Gee best stop, the list can go on!
