Sorry to follow up on my own post but I forgot to tell you about color
resolution which is different from video resolution.  In composite
video the color signal only has enough bandwidth to color in the large
areas of video since it was expaected that at usual tv viewing distances
the user would be able to see the color of the small images anyway.  This
works ok for tv but for monitor use you may notice that color text doesn'=
t
have any color or a washed out color.  This actually may be the biggest
limitation of all in using a tv as a computer monitor since it also appli=
es
to S-VHS.

hi
I have a C64 which has justed died. The sound has stopped. (well if
you turn the volume V.High you can just hear it breaking through.)

Does anyone out there have any ideas what a maybe, or can someone tell
me were I can get a circuit diagram for one!

Compatibility reasons. No sprites. Poor sound quality (compared
to SID). The TED would have needed a complete overhaul anyway as the
C-128 needed extra registers, 4 MHz clock, etc...

I have just got a 8296D, where the 8250 diskdrive is not working and the=20
IEEE interface of the computer does not work eighter. The former owner of=
=20
this computer has putted this computer together, but didn't connect the=20
flat cables right, so now the disk drive and IEEE interface is nor=20
working. So are there any body who can tell me where to get information=20
about what to exchange with new chips in the computer to get it to work?=20
(or if anybody knows it)

Hmmm. Who is then responsible for 0.12? I have that version complete on t=

disks (one is a backup copy of the other, since it is copy protected (I m=

to hack the copy protection, though, so I could make my own work-disk)) a=

(Swedish) manual. Bought it a couple of years ago.

I also have some versions of the 0.14.

Too bad it's just so darn slow, and that there is so little memory left,
otherwise it would be a very good alternative, especially with its abilit=
y of
doing graphics programming directly in the language.

Users Through the Mail" has a new president, and a new address.

Thank you!  That is _exactly_ what I wanted to know.  I tried to reply
to you through e-mail, but I kept getting bounced.

There is one problem:  That file is apparently corrupted, and I cannot
unzip it.  I e-mailed the administrator.

If anyone has a copy of this file, could they please e-mail it to me?

It's 8580 for the new machines (and later C128's).  There are however
some 6581's that only work in C64c's, 6581 rev. 5 I think but don't

Sadly Konrad, you are in a minority these days.  I work in a local
computer shop and although I've spent quite a bit of time and effort
in getting various new C64 products in nobody buys the things.  Poor
Russ at EBES and Jon Wells got the same response and even Binary Zone
PD has had a falling off in sales of late.

The problem is that unless it has fast 3d texturemapped lightsourced
graphics and stereo 32 channel sound it seems most people these days
don't think it can be playable...  Sad isn't it?

Its exactly that.  A PC clone that CBM made and called "Colt".  As I=20

I cant answer the first part of your question except to say possibly the
Jiffy Dos got disabled somehow.  You could have recalled it with the=20
proper sys call for your version.   The other part on 128.  When you
reset the old 128's by holding down logo key and reset, you are=20
activating a function called "de ja vu" which means things will be still
in memory and not be lost upon resetting.  All you have to do is hit
an x and (cr) to get out of the m/l monitor you find yourself in after
a "de ja vu" reset.

Assume it wont even read a "dir".  But just stumbles and sits with
a flashing error light.  Try replacing the 6502 chip with a 6502a.
They are still available from Jameco.   Another possible problem
is the belt under the drive that spins the disk may be all crudded
up with dust grease or whatever and slipping so it has no torque to
turn the disk.

The problem is probably the famous "head is past track 35" problem.  The=20
standard track to track manipulation fails when the head is past track=20
35.  To fix this, yo must cause a BUMP instruction to be sent to the=20
drive controller.  The easiest way to do this if you have a wedge is to=20
just open the drive and type @I

This will force a bump.   Formatting a disk also forces a bump.

If this fails, you ned a new drive.. :(  Or maybe you can get it realigne=

If you mean that is hangs, then it's your copy.  But if you mean that the=
=20
game doesn't end, and you can press all bttons to go on, and the ststus=20
pops back up in a few seconds, that is a known problem.  There is no win=20
message for beginner, and no first founder is crowned.

Ummhhh.  Lemme guess.  In a C128 on the 8502?  That being
the difference between the 8502 and the 6510, as the subject header
would suggest is part of the topic?  I guess you'll have to look
into the 128 PRG to find out if I'm right.  But I'm sure I remember
thinking how *stupid* CBM was for wasting the two extra IO lines
as they did, when they could have used it for memory banking to
get expanded memory that could be put into a daughterboard in a
C64.  The lack of incremental upgrades for the massive C64
installed base to some of the C128 capabilities is one big reason
the 128 software market got locked into "C64 mode" to such
a great extent.
