  2.                      The Release Charts 1993 Edition
  3.              -------------------------------
  4.  The charts have been released weekly and monthly now for quite a while, 
  5. and so it almost seems inevitable that we would do a 1993 edition, which
  6. includes all of the releases this entire year. There is a major problem
  7. though here, the charts were not released all year, and noone kept a 
  8. clear record of everything to be released... I have done my *VERY BEST*
  9. to try and include every release of the year, but alas, I am sure that
  10. I missed quite a few releases from the early months of the year. I 
  11. apologize to the groups who were very active during these months of the
  12. year, I wish there were a way to include them, but if I have no record
  13. of these releases, I cannot include them...
  14.  On the upside, I feel that this is the best ever released edition of 
  15. the release charts. It includes groups and releases that some of us may
  16. have forgotten about, and some that we would like to forget about. I 
  17. hope that everyone enjoys this issue, because as you can probably tell,
  18. it is a compilation of many, many hours worth of work, and it was hell
  19. on my fingers!!! 
  20.  1993 was a very positive year for the release charts, and I feel that
  21. they shall continue throughout 1994. I would like to thank everyone for
  22. their support in distributing the charts, as well as everyone's 
  23. contributions, and support in reading the charts. If nobody read them,
  24. then there would be no use in writing the damn things, haha!

  1277.                         My Personal Thoughts

  1279.  Wow, what a year. For a while there it seemed the amiga was on the
  1280. verge of extinction, then W H A M, CD-32/AGA took over. I'd like to 
  1281. recap the year in review.
  1282.  At the start of the year Ministry seemed to be on top, and the only
  1283. real competition was Fairlight. But their glory was short-lived and
  1284. the soon fell to the bottom of the ranks after the first couple of
  1285. months. 
  1286.  Quartex and Crystal just kept hanging around all year. The glory is
  1287. behind them, and they now are no longer Power Forces, but still they
  1288. shock people every once in a while and release something good.
  1289.  When Interpol became Paradox many people felt they would ruin the
  1290. good name that Paradox had established. Well, from the moment they 
  1291. were formed till nearly the end of 1993, PDX ruled over the scene.
  1292. Bacon & Egg proved to be GREAT suppliers, and Blackhawk overcame
  1293. some of his doubters.
  1294.  Tristar & Red Sector hung around all year long, dissapearing for 
  1295. a while, then putting up a good month. Much the way that Skid Row
  1296. did. Skid Row, however in the off month was reduced to releasing
  1297. utilities. 
  1298.  Training wise, Anthrox ruled for the bulk of the year, with GOD
  1299. close behind. Then we hit the months of drought, where groups such
  1300. as GOD, Mystic, and TT released trainers for mine games every other
  1301. day. Luckily this was stopped around July. Faith, Zenith, and Delight
  1302. and Unlimited Potential put up strong performances in certain months, but 
  1303. never had the consistency of Global Overdose or Anthrox.
  1304.  When the world heard that Phil Douglas was returning with Delirium,
  1305. some speculated that they would take over the scene. Many of these
  1306. were the same people who predicted Dynamix would run things, but
  1307. as we all know, it never happened. 
  1308.  Then in September, another group returned from the depths, Classic.
  1309. Everyone dismissed them as Ministry reincarnated, and thought they
  1310. would not be a factor. But as we all know, when the returned they
  1311. overtook Paradox as the leaders(with Fairlight as well). If only they
  1312. had returned a little earlier they could have very well been a HUGE
  1313. factor in the top runnings.
  1314.  Hoodlum was also a major factor in the closing months of the year.
  1315. Along with a resurgance of Prodigy, we now had two groups that besides
  1316. the normal power 3(Classic, Paradox, Fairlight) that were releasing 
  1317. games regularly. They also put up an effort on the training end of
  1318. things.
  1319.  But while all of this was going on, Fairlight, the old legends, 
  1320. were consistantly releasing top notch games. They had a small dry
  1321. spell around the middle of the year, but overcame it, and that is why
  1322. Fairlight is the #1 group of 1993. Consistency pays off!
