  89. Well, I am a busy bloke at the moment, doing other stuff and in the midst
  90. of doing said stuff, I saw Hellfire's release of SUPER LOOPZ.  'Cool' I
  91. thought, a neat enough puzzle game, with 'SIMPLE' RNC protection on it.

  93. I have debated for a while about releasing this 100% version for one
  94. reason:

  96. 1)  Allthough I cannot find anything wrong with the HF version (yet), I
  97. KNOW it is not 100% cracked!  Why?  
  98.

  100. Because as any good cracker will know, the whole point of RNC Copylock is
  101. to test for an MFM track on this disk, and retrieve its ID serial number.
  102. If you copy it, no serial number.  Most companies just do the one check,
  103. the others however store the serial number for reference later on.

  106. Now, this particular game uses a serial number of $3984EC01, and stores it
  107. for use in register D5 and address register $000000F4.  So I checked with
  108. the Hellfire release, and NOWHERE could I find the cracker doing anything
  109. of the sort.  So I thought perhaps he had removed the check further into
  110. the game, so I resourced the whole game and found it as clear as day.  
  111.  
  112. So then I thought, 'Maybe its a programmers error' whereby if he did not
  113. clear D5 before he called the RNC Copylock routine, and D5 had data
  114. contained in it, there was a possibility, no matter how slim, that the data
  115. in that register not being cleared if it did not find the protection track.
  116. Sorry, but no luck there.

  118. So, at the moment I do not know what the game does when it actually fucks up as
  119. far as the protection goes, but I know it will happen.  So, as for Hellfire
  120. being 'NUMERO UNO'..... I disagree.

  122. I could be totally wrong, and I would much rather be wrong than a simple
  123. protection like RNC Copylock STILL beating some people.

  128. I have nothing against Hellfire or some of the guys in Hellfire, and this
  129. is not the start of some petty war, but I think its early days to be
  130. claiming to be number one when that position is not vacant yet!
