`30D`40101
I have tried to provide the most flexible way
for copying files in GeoDOS.
To that end the 'Options' Menu was developed.
All parameters necessary for GeoDOS to copy
files are adjustable here.
The Icon Menu is located along the upper screen
edge:
`30D`40200 With this Icon you leave the 'Options'
`30D`40201 Menu and return back to the GeoDOS
`30D`40202 Main Menu.

`30D`40301 GeoWrite Documents here.
`30D`40302
`30D`40400 Select Font for creating GeoWrite
`30D`40401 Documents here.
`30D`40402
`30D`40500 All Translation Tables are cleared and
`30D`40501 all text conversions are performed in
`30D`40502 the 1:1 mode.
`30D`40600 Select a new translation table for
`30D`40601 copying PC-DOS files to C64 File

`30D`40801 copying C-64 files into another file

`30D`40900 Call SETUP Menu for 'Options'.
`30D`40901 Parameters can be saved or loaded
`30D`40902 from disk.
Also see section ^`1SETUP Menu`
The lower screen area is divided into two areas:

`30D`40201
`30D`40202
`30D`40300 The current settings are stored in the
`30D`40301 'OPTION.INI' file on diskette. This will be
`30D`40302 automatically read in at the next start.
`30D`40400 The program resets all parameters back
`30D`40401 to the standard values. Note: These
`30D`40402 settings do not get automatically
stored in the file 'OPTION.INI' !
`30D`40500 Store Parameters.
`30D`40501
`30D`40502
The Setup Menu first searches for available para-
meter files on the GeoDOS System Diskette and
then a File Selection Box appears. If you would
like to store the settings in an existing file on the
Diskette then select the corresponding file here
with a Mouse click.
If you would like to store the settings in a new
file then click the 'OK' Icon in the File Selection
You will then be requested to input the file name.
If that file already exists on the GeoDOS System
Diskette the following error message will appear:
Replace Existing File ?
A Mouse Click on the 'Yes' Icon will cause the file
on Disk to be deleted and the new parameter file
to be saved.
`30D`40600 Load Parameters.
`30D`40601
`30D`40602
Here you can Load a Parameter File from Diskette.
Note: All previous settings get lost then.
A File Selection Box will appear listing all of the
available Parameter Files on the System Diskette.
Select the file containing the 'Option' Menu settings
you want with a Mouse Click and the settings will
be loaded.

There is a multitude of different printers for GEOS.
However, not all printers provide the same page
length. In order for GeoWrite to adapt to the page
length of the connected printer, the printer driver
is checked and its page length is determined.
In order to convert the page length to the proper
GeoWrite length the printer driver that will be used
to print with later on must be selected before any
copying begins. To enable GeoDOS to calculate the
number of lines that text will occupy on a page a
font size must also be selected before copying.
With the Printer Driver and the Font type and size
chosen GeoDOS is able to make optimal use of the
GeoWrite page length when converting to GeoWrite
documents.

# `341Linefeed
`40200 Ignore
If this option is avtivated then all linefeeds
from the Source file are removed in the
Target file.
In PC-DOS texts it is common for the end of lines
to be marked with the Control Code $0D (move
cursor back to beginning of line, carriage return)
and $0A (line-feed). Most text programs on the
C-64 do not need this linefeed because they add
this automatically, as a rule. On the other hand,
if you want to copy programs, data or graphics
files you must de-activate this option or the Target
file will be missing some information!

are entered into the Target file.
In PC-DOS text files it is usual for the end of lines
to be marked with the Control Code $0D (move

and $0A (line-feed). If a C-64 text file is to be
converted into PC-DOS format it is recommended
to activate this option.
# `341PC-DOS Filename
The C-64 can have 16 characters in a file name
whereas the PC-DOS format is restricted to '8+3'
characters so the C-64 filenames must be
converted.

GeoDOS can automatically produce a PC-DOS
suitable filename. Through a Selection Box

GeoWrite cannot display it). If this happens
copy the text again with this option

If you set this option GeoDOS will generate

you can set the number of lines on a Geo-
Write page. Only the number of 'line end'

cause problems here. In such texts you
should activate the option 'Reformat text').
If this value is reached GeoDOS will start
a new page.
A new page may also be inserted if the copy
contains more than 6600 characters on the
current page. In this case the document will
be re-formatted when you open it the first
time as the length of each page must be
recalculated.

the file still contains the data. GeoDOS is able

If you would like to indent single paragraphs
in the text you can input here the value for
the indent. In the 2.0 Format the value must
be between 12 and 61. In the 2.1 Format the
value must be between 2 and 71. PC-DOS
texts are, as a rule, not floating texts so
each line begins at the Left margin tab. For
these texts the left edge is determined by
this value. If you enter invalid values you
must redo the input. Input is terminated
by 'RETURN'.
# `341Tabulators:
`40200 T1 through T8
Here you can set the values for up to 8 Tab
stops. The values for the Tab stops must be
between the values for the left edge and
the right edge. If you would like to use
Right-Aligned Tabs, also known as Decimal
Tabulators, you must activate the check box
before the Tab Labels T1 through T8.

# `341Combine selected files into a single document
`40200 Combine files
If this option is activated all selected files
are combined into a single file during the
copying process.
`40200 Combine directly
In this option the texts are combined
consecutively into the new file.
`40200 Insert empty line
In this option the texts are separated by an
empty line once they are copied into the
new file.
`40200 Start new page
With this option each file begins on a new
page.
All options check whether the new GeoWrite file
would exceed 61 pages. If that is the case a
second, third, etc. GeoWrite file will be created
(the new files will be recognizable through the
naming standard 'name_a', 'name_b', etc...).
A Maximum of 26 consecutive files can be created.
This works out to be 26 * 61 pages for a total of
1586 pages. In the average of 61 lines per page
and 45 characters per line that yields a maximum
file size of approx. 4100 KBytes for the Target File.
In most cases that should suffice.

In all copying operations GeoDOS checks whether
the Source or Target Drive are CMD Devices. If that
is the case you will always be prompted for the
Source and Target partition on the corresponding
drive.
You can avoid this by clicking on this particular
Icon in the 'Copy files' Menu. After that no query
is made for partitions when processing a copy:
GeoDOS will instead always use the currently
active partition for the copying process.
