  1. EXTRA.BA: A helping hand for writers by Carmen Paone [72677,42]

  3. I modfified Steve French's very fine global search program for EXTRA.BA
  4.  
  5. EXTRA.BA was created to overcome machine language problems with the NODE ROM
  6. chip, ROM2/Cleauseau and other unreported M/L hangups.
  7.  
  8. This revised version of EXTRA.100 and EXTRA.200 won't cause machine language
  9. conflicts in your laptops.
  10.  
  11. Under the other two versions, a user could go back to the program menu and
  12. select another function. This version requires you to re-enter the program
  13. from the main menu.

  17. As a writer who faces deadlines, I always wanted certain features at
  18. my fingertips in my Model 100
  19.  
  20. Features such as:
  21.  
  22. * Search and replace.
  23.  
  24. * Story length.
  25.  
  26. * Rename function.
  27.  
  28. * Byline writer.
  29.  
  30. * Boilerplate feature.
  31.  
  32. When you hit the F1 key for the first time, you might think there is
  33. something wrong with EXTRA.BA because all you will see is a blank screen.
  34.  
  35. There's nothing wrong and you didn't waste your connect time.
  36.  
  37. You are sitting in a TEXT file called STORY.DO. Start writing your article.
  38.  
  39. When you are finished with the story or want to use one of the features of
  40. EXTRA.BA, just hit the F8 key and you will back at the menu of your laptop.

  42. All of the features of EXTRA.BA will only work on STORY.DO.
  43.  
  44. When you select S&R, you will see a message of "A)uto or Q)uerry" will pop up.
  45.  
  46. The Auto mode will automatically search for the string you are seeking
  47. and replace it with the corrected string.

  49. In the "Q" mode, you will see the string appear on the screen and be asked
  50. if you want to:

  52. R)eplace the string.
  53.  
  54. S)kip the string.
  55.  
  56. Q)uit the S&R function.
  57.  
  58. On "Quit" the lines of the article will be counted and you will be returned
  59. to the EXTRA.BA menu.

  61. In the Length of story mode, if you get an EF error, that means that you
  62. are trying to measure an empty file.
  63.  
  64. The byline feature puts your name and publication in your story.
  65.  
  66. The boilerplate feature can be used to store names and addresses and other
  67. information which can be cut and pasted into your story.

  69. EXTRA.BA will work on the 100, 102, and 200.
