  8.      PERSONAL CHECKS are not a good idea.  They are
  9. difficult and expensive for the foreign recipient to cash.
  10. Fees the recipient must pay to cash your check may consume a
  11. large part of your fairware donation. 
  12.       
  13.      INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDERS can be purchased at the
  14. major offices of most banks, although not at some branch
  15. banks and not at some savings and loans.  They are easy and
  16. cheap for the foreign recipient to cash, but are somewhat
  17. expensive for the sender to purchase. 
  18.       
  19.      TRAVELERS CHEQUES can usually be cashed by the foreign
  20. recipient easily for little or no fee, and can usually be
  21. purshased without any service charge at a bank where you
  22. have an account.  If your fairware donation is either $20 or
  23. multiples of $20, then travelers checques are a cheap
  24. convenient safe way of making your fairware donation.
  25. Travelers cheques are available in minimum denominations of
  26. $20 and you must get at least $100 of such checks at the
  27. same time.  Take one of the checques, sign it at the top and
  28. bottom, and after the words "pay this cheque to" write the
  29. recipient's name.  This way nobody else can cash the check
  30. even though you have signed it.  Take the rest of the
  31. cheques (remember, you have to get at least $100 worth at a
  32. time) and either use them on your next vacation or sign them
  33. and immediately redeposit them into your bank account.

  35.      CASH is probably the simplest and easiest way to make a
  36. fairware payment.  United States currency is easily
  37. recognized and accepted by banks all over the world.  Fees a
  38. foreign recipient pays to deposit United States currency
  39. (no coins) into the recipient's bank account will be
  40. minimal of any.  Just make sure your envelope is sealed and
  41. the cash is not visible to someone examining the outside of
  42. the envelope.
