  1.  .IF DSK1.C-3
  2.      TI-101, a series of eight longish
  3.  articles on the educational use of
  4.  the 99/4a for learners of all ages,
  5.  is written by Jack Sughrue, author of
  6.  the NEW-AGE 99 series.
  7.      
  8.      The first of this series is
  9.  listed on this disk as "#1CORPUS" and
  10.  is a historical background to the
  11.  stuff leading up to the ways
  12.  computers and the TI, in particular,
  13.  could be used successfully and
  14.  ingeniously in the classroom or at
  15.  home.  There is also an extensive
  16.  address listing of many "educational"
  17.  people still active in our TI world.
  18.      Look the article over, and, if
  19.  you think you could use this series
  20.  (TI-101) then feel free to use it.
  21.      The other articles begin by
  22.  exploring holism up to the ways
  23.  computers can be used in the class.
  24.  Then I show the variety of ways the
  25.  TI can be an important part of any
  26.  child's education (any adults, too)
  27.  by giving many specific applications
  28.  through modules, disks, books,
  29.  newsletters, and tapes and even
  30.  combinations of all (and not
  31.  discounting direct applications in
  32.  the form of programming).
  33.      Basically, the series is to make
  34.  the TI new to new users: our
  35.  children, grandchildren, nieces &&
  36.  nephews, friends, whoever.  But
  37.  mostly to LEARNERS of all ages (many
  38.  of whom are new or have forgotten the
  39.  glories of the "Educational TI" or
  40.  might not have been aware of all that
  41.  was and IS available for the learner
  42.  on our wonderful computer.)  Our
  43.  "Educational President" failed the
  44.  nation's children badly in that
  45.  category, but our "Educational
  46.  Computer" - the TI-99/4A - far
  47.  exceeded (and still does) any
  48.  competition.  That's what these
  49.  articles are about: a remarkable,
  50.  viable, educational tool.
  51.      The format of the articles I
  52.  simply couldn't resist as a teacher.
  53.  They all take place in a college
  54.  classroom.  The course is "TI-101"
  55.  and the professor imparts information
  56.  in preparation for some test in the
  57.  future.  He also assigns lots of
  58.  homework and notetaking along the
  59.  way.  Each "class" builds upon the
  60.  previous one, and the "lectures" are
  61.  titled and numbered: HOLISM is #2,
  62.  DOCENT #3, ROOTS #4, MCGUFFEY'S #5,
  63.  etc. (through all eight).
