  1. NGC4565 is the largest and most famous 
  2. edge-on spiral galaxy. This is a good 
  3. object for smaller instruments, 
  4. displaying a bright thin streak in a 6" 
  5. inch telescope. Larger scopes might 
  6. reveal the central dust lane running 
  7. lengthwise across the narrow sliver of
  8. light. This is felt to be a member of 
  9. the Virgo galactic cluster, and is about
  10. 90,000 light-years across.
