He received his artistic training and spent much of his career alongside his elder brother Giovanni A
ntonio, head of the family studio. His interest in landscape emerged in the imaginary views inspired by the \i capricci\i0 of Marco Ricci and in the \i Scenes from the Story of Tobit\i0 (Venice, church of the Angelo Raffaele). After his brotherÆs death
he devoted himself almost exclusively to \i vedute\i0 , developing a fantastic and whimsical interpretation of the theme and creating visions in which the architecture seems to melt into the silvery atmosphere of the lagoon: \i San Pietro di Castello
