er from those of his teacher in their less distinct overall vision paying greater attention to detail (\i Vaprio dÆAdda, \i0 Metropolitan Museum of New York; \i Royal Palace in Turin\i0 and \i The Old Bridge over the Po\i0 , Turin, Galleria Sabauda). He
worked in Dresden, Vienna, Munich, and then Warsaw, first in the service of Augustus III, then Maria Theresa of Austria, and finally the king of Poland. His Northern European patrons commissioned pictures of their own cities from him, including \i The M
oat of the Zwinger\i0 (ca. 1745, Dresden, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen) and \i Vienna from the Belvedere\i0 (1759-60, Vienna, Kunsthistorisches Museum).
