  7. I set up an API mailing list 2 months ago with the purpose of
  8. discussing X/Open APIs (and their IEEE partners). The main issue
  9. arising from list members questions was that the spec to XOM
  10. (and other X/Open APIs) was far from complete and often very
  11. difficult to understand. This leads to different implementations
  12. based upon implementor X's interpretation of the API spec.

  14. This forum is the only arena I have seen for discussing problems
  15. with the above specs. Much useful discussion has taken place.
  16. The chairpersons from both the XOM, XDS (and IEEE counterparts)
  17. APIs subscribe and contribute to the group.
