  55. In 1988, USENIX will start publishing a new refereed quarterly
  56. technical journal, ``Computing Systems:  The Journal of the USENIX
  57. Association,'' in cooperation with University of California Press.

  59. They also publish an edition of the 4.3BSD manuals, and they
  60. occasionally sponsor experiments, such as methods of improving the
  61. USENET and UUCP networks (e.g., uunet), that are of interest and use to
  62. the membership.  They distribute tapes of contributed software and are
  63. pursuing expanding that activity.

  66. Portable Operating System Interface for Computer Environments Committee.
  67. That representative also moderates the USENET newsgroup comp.std.unix,
  68. which is for discussion of UNIX-related standards, especially P1003.

  104. products and services developed specifically for the UNIX operating system.
  105. ``/usr/digest'' is also published by /usr/group.  This newsletter covers
  106. product announcements and industry projections, and is sent to members

  109. /usr/group has long been deeply involved in UNIX standardization,
  110. having sponsored the ``/usr/group 1984 Standard,'' providing an Institutional
  111. Representative to the IEEE P1003 Portable Operating System for Computer
  112. Environments Committee, and sponsoring the /usr/group Technical Committee
  113. on areas that P1003 has not yet addressed.  They have recently produced
  114. an overview of the POSIX standard, ``POSIX Explored,'' and funded production
  115. of a draft of a ``Rationale and Notes'' appendix for that standard.
