  13. It *seems* that I have run into an NNTP bug/limitation with the latest posting 
  14. of dmake...

  16. I have been using MD4 article verification for quite a while now.  Although
  17. others have told me that it has alerted them when bad copies were received, I
  18. have not personally encountered a problem.  Today I finished posting dmake 
  19. version 3.8 to c.s.misc and went to rkive it on uunet when invalid MD4 
  20. checksums presented themselves to me...  This was strange since the copy on 
  21. my system was archived with no problems.  I decided to repost a single part 
  22. in hopes that it would either make it the second time or would point me to 
  23. the problem.  It seems to have done the latter... :-(   There is an apparent
  24. assumption made in the NNTP server that lines will not exceed 512 bytes
  25. in length.  At least that is where the problem is on each of the damaged
  26. parts...

  28. Dmake has lines in few of the shars that exceed 512 characters in length...
  29. So how do we fix the problem ?  I normally would just post a patch but the 
  30. patch would have lines > 512 and the patch would go through NNTP and .....

  32. For those of you with ftp access, I have placed good copies on ftp.uu.net 
  33. in the directory ~/comp.sources.misc/volume27/dmake. Also, from part00:
