    scientists are essential to stimulating or provoking new ideas.  As
    teachers and researchers, we can find the demands of our profession
    extensive, which may lead to a reduction in our ability to keep
    abreast of new data and changes in theories.  Sometimes,
    conversation helps to clarify articles, illuminate new perceptions
    of theories, and sustain us through our precarious journey in
    chemistry.  A solution to this problem or concern is the creation
    of efficient communication network using this mailing list.

Child-free State

   Purpose: The child-free mailing list provides information, discussion
   and a supportive environment for people who choose, are in the process
   of choosing, or have been been forced to remain, for various reasons,
   child-free.  This is not a mailing list for for anyone trying to bash
   the childless state; here, being childless is not something that has to
   be defended.  We welcome those searching for the answer to child-free
   versus children, but note that the emphasis of this list stays on the
   child-free state as being accepted and good.  Not everyone on the list
   is 100% pro-child-free, but all have valuable insights and ideas about
   what being childless has meant in their lives, and all are accepting of
   the childless state as a good and valuable lifestyle choice.

   This list has both a direct mail and a digest version.  Both carry

    Purpose: Cro-News: This non-moderated list is the distribution
    point for the news coming from Croatia. At the time of writing
    (Aug '92) the list carries articles from Novi Vjesnik, Vecernji
    List, Croatia Monitor, Slobodna Dalmacija, Novi Danas, Radio Free
    Europe/Radio Luxemburg bulletins, UPI reports, etc.  The volume of
    news is relatively high. The languages are Croatian, English and
    occasionally Slovene.  For application *only* email address is

    SCCro-Digest/SCYU-Digest: These two moderated mailing lists enable
    people without access to the USENET newsgroups soc.culture.croatia
    and soc.culture.yugoslavia to receive messages published on those
    forums in a digested form. The volume of the material depends on
    the traffic on the respective newsgroup, but usually there is at
    least 700-800 lines of text daily (on each list). The topics cover
    wide ranging subjects and on occasions one can witness *very*
    heated discussions between the participants.  Language is mostly
    English. The interaction is possible thru the gateway at Berkeley.
