  4. I'm sure you've probably heard about GP 2 already.  It's Geoff Crammond's
  5. sequel to F1GP and it was released for PC CD-ROM in July 1996.  It
  6. requires at least a 486-DX66 PC (a Pentium is recommended though), CD-ROM
  7. drive and at least 8Mb RAM!  It is even more realistic with even more car
  8. setup options (30 variables for suspension alone!), and you can enable
  9. different levels of mechanical failures.

  11. It is clear that MicroProse have no intention of converting it to the
  12. Amiga as the reality is that they don't develop Amiga games any more.

  14. About the only hope is if Amiga International get their act together and
  15. release a reasonably priced Power Amiga which will knock the socks of
  16. any Pentium PCs.  Then MicroProse have no real excuse not to convert
  17. it to the Amiga.  More importantly, such a machine may drag Geoff
  18. Crammond away from the PC - after all, it was the increased processing
  19. power and speed available in expensive PCs which dragged Geoff away
  20. from the Amiga!  It is a fact that GP 2 needs lots of processing power -
  21. it is not possible to get a decent frame rate (ie 20fps) at full detail
  22. on 200MHz Pentium!

  24. The other option is for another developer to take on the conversion,
  25. as it is obvious that AGA Amigas can handle such a game (especially
  26. accelerated ones), but this will require negotiations with Geoff and
  27. MicroProse.  OTM (the company that published Virtual Karting) were
  28. initially interested in doing the conversion.  Alledgedly, they asked
  29. MicroProse but they couldn't afford the license fee that MicroProse
  30. were asking.

  32. As you may know clickBOOM are converting Myst to the Amiga, and they also
  33. plan to convert some more games too.  They have set up a "conversion wish
  34. list" on their web site where people can vote for games they would like to
  35. see converted to the Amiga.  GP 2 is on this list, so if you have access
  36. to the internet, please submit your vote for GP 2 by visiting the
