AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It is a disease which you can catch by having sex with an infected person. You can also catch AIDS if you share needles to inject drugs.
Condoms can prevent you from passing on or catching the AIDS virus because they stop you exchanging body fluids.
There is at present no cure for AIDS. Most people who catch the disease die within 10 years from a variety of illnesses.
