Did you know that you can read without using your eyes? If you use the fine sense of touch in your fingertips you should be able to "read" in the dark.
For this experiment you will need a cork tile, a pair of scissors, some mapping pins, a pen and a blindfold.
1) Cut the cork tile into pieces about 2.5 cm square.
2) Draw a number on each square of cork.
3) Stick mapping pins along the outline of each number.
4) Blindfold a friend.
5) Lay out the numbers in a row.
6) Get your friend to run their fingertips over the numbers.
You will find that your friend is be able to "read" the numbers. This is because the fingertips are very sensitive to touch. This is due to the fact that there are a lot of nerves in the skin of the fingertips.
