After food has been processed by the digestive system, it passes into the bloodstream and on into the liver.
The liver can store some of the foodstuffs but others become poisonous in large quantities. It can only store small quantities of amino acids before they become poisonous. The liver converts the extra amino acids into urea, which is passed by the blood into the kidneys to be excreted as urine.
