  2. The liver has several functions:
  3. -It breaks down old red blood cells and produces bile.
  4. -It takes the newly absorbed food from the small intestine and converts it into products required by the body.
  5. -It stores some vitamins and minerals for later use.
  6. -It produces heat.
  7. -It destroys poisons and alcohol.
  8. -It produces chemicals that make the blood clot.
  9. -It keeps glucose levels steady.
