The adrenal glands are located on the top of your kidneys. They make a hormone called adrenalin. Adrenalin is released when you are frightened or when you need to use a lot of energy.
The adrenalin makes your heart beat quickly and increases the blood supply to your muscles so you can run fast or lift heavy objects.
