The blood goes through the heart twice in one complete circulation of the body. An artery takes blood from the heart to the lungs, where it absorbs oxygen. The blood leaves the lungs and passes the oxygen into the body’s cells through the capillaries. Blood then returns to the heart after the oxygen is removed.
