  1. This is a 1440x740 pixel composite image of the entire earth.  Rick
  2. Kohrs (rickk@ssec.wisc.edu) created it with data taken by the GMS, GOES
  3. 7, METEOSAT 3, METEOSAT 4, NOAA 11, and NOAA 12 satellites on 26 August
  4. 1993.  In this image the clouds are from the IR satellite imagery, but
  5. the land and sea are from a base map (i.e.  not from the satellite
  6. imagery).  Because of this the water in the image is only one shade of
  7. blue.

  9. Note that some discontinuities are visible between data from different
  10. sources.
