  1.   This archive contains the RAR multifunctional integrated archive manager

  3.                     The RAR Archiver - version 2.00

  5.    RAR features:

  7.  o RAR introduces a NEW and original compression algorithm.  It
  8.    allows higher compression ratios than other PC archiving tools,
  9.    especially on executable files, Object libraries, large text
  10.    files, etc.
  11.  
  12.  o RAR offers a NEW, optional, compression algorithm highly optimized
  13.    for multimedia data (with usage of -mm option).
  14.  
  15.  o RAR provides functionality for creating a 'solid' archive, which
  16.    can raise the compression ratio by 10% - 50% over more common
  17.    methods, particularly when packing large numbers of small files.
  18.  
  19.  o RAR offers the ability to create and change SFX archives using
  20.    default and external SFX modules, e.g. the DOS SFX.
  21.  
  22.  o RAR offers the ability to create a multi-volume archive as SFX.
  23.  
  24.  o RAR offers a number of service functions, such as setting a
  25.    password, adding archive and file comments.  Even physically
  26.    damaged archives may be repaired and an archive may be locked
  27.    to prevent further changes.  Authenticity information may be
  28.    added for additional security and RAR will store information
  29.    on the last update and name of the archive.
