  3.    RAR features:

  5.  o RAR introduces a NEW and original compression algorithm.  It
  6.    allows higher compression ratios than other PC archiving tools,
  7.    especially on executable files, Object libraries, large text
  8.    files, etc.
  9.  
  10.  o RAR offers a NEW, optional, compression algorithm highly optimized
  11.    for multimedia data.
  12.  
  13.  o RAR provides functionality for creating a 'solid' archive, which
  14.    can raise the compression ratio by 10% - 50% over more common
  15.    methods, particularly when packing large numbers of small files.

  17.  o RAR offers the ability to create and change SFX archives using
  18.    default and external SFX modules.
  19.  
  20.  o RAR offers the ability to create a multi-volume archive as SFX.
  21.  
  22.  o RAR offers a number of service functions, such as setting a
  23.    password, adding archive and file comments.  Even physically
  24.    damaged archives may be repaired and an archive may be locked
  25.    to prevent further changes.  Authenticity information may be
  26.    added for additional security and RAR will store information
  27.    on the last update and name of the archive.
