Deviant
dev-cont.ans -
A decent font by deviant. As usual, we have his
typical shading and shaping styles, which aren't
bad. The coloring is type-meatpod, and the first
'con' of the font is very nicely done.
Unfortunately, the end 't' has fairly bad
curving, and the background doesn't curve nicely
around it..

Iron Lung
i_l-ill.asc - Hrm, I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a
font, or a design.. either way, it's nicely curved
and shaped. Although, to be honest.. I don't
really see the point in having 'pointless' designs
in ascii packs.. :(
Rating 5/10
i_l-web.asc - Another typical Iron Lung ascii. I'm starting to
wonder if Iron Lung knows that his asciis could be
smoother? At a glance, you think that he does
them this way because he's trying to get an 'ascii
low-ascii' look to his art. But.. he doesn't use
all low-ascii. There are quite a few high ascii
characters littering this piece. Maybe instead of
using .,yy##QQ$$ for that one select ascii, he
could have tried other combinations to get a
smoother effect? All in all, lung is a great
artist.. he just needs to touch up his style a
bit. Change a few characters here & there.

Otium Man
om-cook.asc - The overall look of this pic is fairly nice.
However, the shaping, shading, and curving is
*very* rough. Character stabs such as OM's
"$$$/$$$" pattern's at the top of the crown should
not be used. They make the overall ascii look
very sloppy.
Rating 4/10
om-jmbm.asc - This pic is better shaped than the last one, but
there's still a few things I don't understand.
Otium Man: Why do you perfectly curve the ascii
with sharp curves, but have the long outer curves
looking so jagged & rough? $/ is *not* a good
character to use for gradual slopes. Despite
this, I thought the glasses of the man were very
well done, a lot of nice detail, and it was curved
nicely there.
Rating 7/10
om-tre.asc - This pic is better than the last, I guess because
it's mostly solid,and there's little open shading
(which otium man still hasn't seem to have
mastered). I really liked the low ansi
underneath the eyes.. great effect.
Rating 7.5/10
om-vpro.asc - Dear .. god .. This ascii is one of otium man's
weaker ones. The side 'shading' makes the ascii
have an allround 'ugly' effect.. and the
shaping/curving is horrible. The only thing that
saves it is it's good use of negative space.
Please, use qc.. pleaaase.
Rating 4/10
om-vsy.asc - Wow, this one is the best so far by Otium Man.
Very nicely done as a smaller pic, and even
though it has his normal 'rough' curving and
shaping.. He still manages to pull it off. Plus,
this piece is a change from his repetative 'face'
asciis. Nice job.
Rating 8.5/10
PHL (?)
phl-glz1.asc - Uh, what's this? A face by itself is quite plain.
The shading is non-existant, and the shaping is
'alright'. His selection of characters seems to
resemble the other Galza members'. (Which is
unfortunate). Arg..
Rating 3/10
phl-ultm.asc - Again, what's this? I think this guy needs to
work on his ascii presentation skills. Jeez.
Rating 2/10
Joint asciis
us-bonse.asc - Brilliant ascii. The ;88's add a really nice
effect, and make the image look like an extreme
white on black. I really enjoyed looking at this
pic, and besides that, the shaping/curving is
great too. The font is also really well done,
very nice curving and preportioning. *clap*
*clap*
Rating 9/10
us-galza.ans - This almost looks like a squished gif2ascii
attempt. The perportioning *really* needs work,
and the character's facial features are off.
The only thing that saves it is the amazing font
at the bottom. It makes it look almost metallic
the way the greys are done. Great font, horrible
pic.
Rating 6/10
zs-galza.ans - An alright zerostar font. Nice curving, and
shaping. I've come to expect this when looking at
a zs-* file though.
Rating 6/10
Pack highlights
Allround, the pack was alright. It gets very repetitive when
there's only a few artists releasing similar pieces over and
over. :( The pic I thought was the best was obviously
us-bonse.asc, and coming in second is that other pic by otum man
with the small girl. Hopefully there will be maybe a touch of
color next month to liven things up, or maybe even a few long
pics? Hrm...
