Title : A thousand deaths (1kdeaths.zip)
Author : Peter Captijn
Email Address : You can bomb my friends mailbox at:
pieterh@sci.kun.nl
Misc. Author Info : Will Riker without beard, but with belly.
*****************************************************************************
This is a special release for Sams Publishing Software Group
for their upcoming book "Tricks of the DOOM programming GURUS"
They are the only ones with permission to put this ARCHIVE on CD.
This release isn't DSHRINKed, so you can use it in DEU.
*****************************************************************************
Description : Being totally fed up with existing DEATHMATCH
levels, I made a level which can be played frantic
or with stealth. Main feature is having to choose
your heavy weapon before entering the main gaming
area. You'll always have the shotgun and the chain-
gun, and you can choose between a rocketlauncher,
a plasmarifle or a BFG. When you run out of health
or ammo, you can (try to) get the berserker box in
the middle. (The punch will kill instantly.) Use
DOOM 1.666 with -altdeath.
This level is tweaked for speed. If you can speed
it up even more, I WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO HEAR IT!
==============================================================================
* Play Information *
Episode and Level # : E1M1, but you need a pirated, oops, registered copy.
Single Player : Doing some sideseeing.
Cooperative 2-4 Player : If you play it in our style.
(You did that on purpose, I'll get you...)
Deathmatch 2 Player : Yes, probably to static.
Deathmatch 3 Player : Yes.
Deathmatch 4 Player : Yes, probably to hectic.
Difficulty Settings : No, you have enemies, that should be sufficient.
New Sounds : Not in the game, but in front of the screen...
New Graphics : Red glare in my oponents face is all I need.
Demos Replaced : None.
* Construction *
Base : New level from scratch.
Build Time : Months tweaking.
Playtesting Time : About 2 months in the weekends, hence the name.
Editor(s) used : I've tried about everything, and finaly decided for
gnuDEU, BSP and DSHRINK. I would have preferred
IDBSP, but it kept crashing on my almost complete
level.
Known Bugs : PLEASE.
(If you consider NO EXIT a bug, alright, one.)
* Copyright / Permissions *
Authors may NOT use this level as a base to build additional levels.
By all means, try... DSHRINK, but you may copy the idea and try to improve it.
You MAY distribute this ARCHIVE, provided you include this file, with no
modifications. You may distribute this archive in an electronic format
like a BBS, diskette, or on Internet as long as you include this file intact.
But,
YOU MAY NOT DISTRIBUTE THIS WAD-FILE ON CD-ROMS
===============================================
I will not be part of a shameless rip-off deal with shovelware cd-roms,
forget it. And yes, I'm probably loony enough to generate quite some heat if
somebody disregards my wishes.
