  3. Requirements: Your display driver MUST show 256 colors at 640x480 resolution!
  4.               Otherwise, no palette animation will be seen.

  6. This screen saver demo shows the capabilities of the Cycle Company's new
  7. palette animation screen saver.  First, a brief plug to get you to kick
  8. in th $17.50 for the registered version by telling you the things you
  9. get for your money.  The complete screen saver will allow ANY bitmap file
  10. to be used, stretching the bitmap to fill the screen below the scrolling
  11. marquee text.  If the marquee text is deleted, the bitmap fills the entire
  12. screen.  If marquee text is entered, it scrolls from right to left and is
  13. continually repeated.  Five additional fractal bitmaps are included with
  14. the registered version, which will be mailed to you on diskette.

  16. Now - how to activate the demo copy you have just received?  Simply type
  17. "cycle" in the directory where you unpacked the .ZIP file, and the
  18. component files will be placed in the proper directories for a normal
  19. Windows installation.  You can then open the Control Panel in the Main
  20. file folder and activate the Desktop applet.  You will now see the text
  21. "Cycle Screen Saver" as one of the choices in the screen saver window.
  22. Select this, and the Setup button will let you customize the appearance
  23. of your screen saver.  The bad news - in the Demo version, you can't
  24. change the bitmap file or marquee text selection.  But wait, there's
  25. hope!  You CAN register as indicated above.  Just fill out the following
  26. information and mail it the the address below, and we'll take care of you.

  28. For bitmaps where color cycling does not present a worthwhile image, you
  29. can set the Smoothness parameter in the Control Panel setup to 0, which will
  30. cause the screen saver to "fade out" the image and then refresh it.

  32. NOTE:  If you're a laptop user, then you know why just moving the mouse
  33. doesn't stop the screen saver.  Since most laptops have a hardware screen
  34. blanker, you don't get to see much of the software 'savers.  In this case,
  35. simply move your mouse or trackball, and the hardware will re-enable the
  36. screen without having the software remove the screen saver.  To cancel the
  37. software 'saver, I use the SHIFT key, but you can click the mouse buttons,
  38. too.
