-
- In the manuals (Rev. P1.2/IEW/05.91 and Rev. P1.2/IED/05.91)
-
- - Chapter 1, page 1-3, the first sentence should be as follows:
- "...Excel 2.1, Lotus 1-2-3 1A, 2.0 and MS Word for Windows) and 5
- more scanners."
-
- - Appendix A (Specifications), page A-2:
- The PCX image file format is added to the accepted Image File
- Formats.
-
- Re: Languages and Output Character Sets
- Chapter 5, Reference, in the DOS manual
- Chapter 6, Advanced Features, in the Windows manual
-
- Now all the character sets are loaded automatically, you don't need
- to load them through RECSETUP.

- Re: Memory Requirements, DOS environment
-
- Recognita Plus uses the High Memory Area (HMA) if an XMS driver
- such as HIMEM.SYS is installed in CONFIG.SYS. This lowers
- Recognita's installation need for conventional memory. Although
- about 240 KBytes are still needed during recognition, using
- HIMEM.SYS will leave about 60 KBytes more memory for other resident
- applications.
-
- Recognita Plus makes better use of HMA than MS-DOS 5.0 with
- "DOS=high" enabled in CONFIG.SYS therefore it is suggested not to
- enable this swith.
-
- Recognita Plus can use any Upper Memory Blocks (UMBs) found in your
- machine to store runtime data there, so it is suggested that you
- install an expanded memory manager (like EMM386 in DOS 5.0, or
- QEMM-386 or 386Max or others) to create UMBs.
-
- If you encounter any problems you may disable these features by the
- DOS' environment variable MEMDISABLE (see your Recognita Plus
- User's Guide):
-
- SET MEMDISABLE=HMA
- or
- SET MEMDISABLE=UMB
-
- or both:
-
- SET MEMDISABLE=HMA,UMB
-

- Re: Scanners supported by Recognita Plus:
-
- The Mitsubishi MH216CG+MH01FC scanner works under MS Windows 3.0
- standard and enhanced modes as well as under DOS. The default
- scanmethod for standard mode is FAST, for enhanced mode is NORMAL.
- (In FAST method the scanner reads the whole page in one step if
- your machine contains more than approx. 2 Mbytes of memory while in
- NORMAL method it will stop 4 or 5 times.) In NORMAL method the 400
- dpi resolution is disabled.
-
- If your machine employs a fast 386 processor running at 25 MHz or
- more you may try to set FAST method even in enhanced mode with the
- environment variable SCANMETHOD as described in your manual:
-
- SET SCANMETHOD=FAST
-
- If you encounter any problems in FAST method (noisy or broken pixel
- lines) change back to NORMAL method.
-
- In very rare situations (too slow 386 machine) Enhanced Mode may
- give difficulties in NORMAL method, too. In this case start Windows
- in Standard Mode (win/s).
-
-
- New scanners supported:
-
- Microtek ScanMaker 600G The description of MSF-300G is fully applicable.
-
- Microtek ScanMaker 600Z The description of MSF-300Z is fully applicable.
-
- Microtek ScanMaker 800G The description of MSF-400G is fully applicable,
-
- For all of the ScanMaker scanners add the following line to the
- CONFIG.SYS file:
- device=<path>MSCAN.SYS
-
- Sharp JX-600 Flat-bed, colour, 300, 400 dpi resolution,
- ADF is not supported, brightness can be set
- between 32-255, default is 128
- interface card: GPIB-PCIIA
- PS/2 is not supported
-
- All Sharp scanners (incl. the earlier types) are supported under MS
- Windows 3.0 386 Enhanced Mode only from sw packet version NI-488.2
- on interface card version GPIB-PCIIA rev B.
-
-
- Umax UC300, UC630, Flat-bed, colour, 300 dpi resolution,
- ADF supported,
- brightness between 1-101, default is 51,
- interface card: GSII, PS/2 supported (with
- interface card GSII-PS/2)
