  17. The epic story of Titanic is divided into three CD-ROM Volumes:
  18. Volume 1 -- Ship of dreams, from conception to her maiden voyage.
  19. Volume 2 -- From contact with the iceberg to the death of a
  20.             titan.
  21. Volume 3 -- From the heroic rescue to modern-day exploration and
  22.             salvage.

  24. This document contains a summary of installation procedures and
  25. late-breaking tips and troubleshooting information.  You should
  26. keep this file for future reference.

  40. Welcome to this interactive exploration of Titanic.
  41.  
  42. During the planning and production of the film "Titanic," I made
  43. it an inviolate goal to honor the more than 1,500 people who
  44. perished aboard Titanic by depicting their true stories and by
  45. honoring the facts.  This CD-ROM is an extension of that goal.  I
  46. saw it as a unique opportunity to create a kind of living
  47. history, combining the massive amount of available historical
  48. information and documents with film footage which faithfully
  49. recreated events depicting her brief life and heartbreaking
  50. demise.
  51.  
  52. The program chronicles the hubris and optimism of the Gilded Age
  53. that produced this great ship, the sailing of her full-steam into
  54. disaster, and the aftermath which produced many conflicting
  55. accounts of her sinking.  Certain of these contradictions, such
  56. as whether she actually broke in two before disappearing into the
  57. North Atlantic, have been resolved only recently with the
  58. evolution of deep sea technology enabling exploration of the
  59. wreck site.  I am fortunate to be one of the few who has seen and
  60. captured the image of the eerie, rusting hulk which is all that
  61. remains of Titanic today.

  64. most of all celebrate the glorious ship called Titanic.

  115. INSTALLING JAMES CAMERON'S TITANIC EXPLORER
  116.  
  117. Before installing, make sure you have an appropriate system
  118. configuration as described above.
  119.  
  120. NOTE: James Cameron's Titanic Explorer will only run under
  121. Windows 95 or later (including Windows 98 and Windows NT).  It
  122. will NOT run under earlier version of Windows, such as Windows
  123. 3.1. or Windows for Workgroups.
  124.  
  125. To install James Cameron's Titanic Explorer:
  126.  
  127. 1.  Start your computer and insert CD-ROM Volume 1 into your
  128. CD-ROM
  129.     drive.
  130. 2.  Double-click on 'My Computer'.
  131. 3.  Double-click on the CD-ROM icon labeled 'Titanic'.
  132. 4.  Double-click on the program file icon 'Install.exe'.
  133. 5.  Follow the instructions on the screen. The
  134.     installer will copy the appropriate files to your hard drive,
  135.     and will allow you to install the current version of
  136.     QuickTime(tm) if you do not already have it. (QuickTime(tm)
  137.     is system software that enables Titanic Explorer to play
  138.     video and sound.)
  139. 6.  If you installed QuickTime(tm), you will be asked to restart
  140.     your computer so that the new extensions can take effect.
  141.  
  142. Once you have installed James Cameron's Titanic Explorer, you can
  143. start your exploration at any time at any time by selecting
  144. 'Start' on the taskbar, then 'Programs', then 'Fox Interactive',
  145. then 'Titanic Explorer'.

  259. TIPS & TRICKS
  260.  
  261. Here are some tips and tricks you might find useful (and fun!) as
  262.  
  263. you explore Titanic:
  264.  
  265.  
  266. * Full-Screen Display
  267. James Cameron's Titanic Explorer displays in a window size of 640
  268. by 480 pixels.  To make Titanic Explorer completely fill your
  269. available screen area, change the screen resolution of your
  270. monitor before starting Titanic Explorer.  To do this, open the
  271. 'Display' Control Panel, select the 'Settings' tab, and look at
  272. the list of available 'Resolutions'.  Choose a resolution of 640
  273. x 480.  You can change the settings back after you've finished
  274. exploring Titanic.
  275.  
  276. Note that reducing the screen resolution may also enable your
  277. monitor to display more colors (higher color depths).  If this is
  278. the case, and your monitor is not already set to 'High Color'
  279. (16-bit) or greater, be sure to select the 'Color Palette' list
  280. as well and choose the highest available color depth.  Save your
  281. changes and launch Titanic.
  282. (For more information on monitor settings, refer to the manuals
  283. that came with your computer.)
  284.

  286.  
  287. * Search
  288. The Search feature lets you directly search through all three
  289. Volumes of material in James Cameron's Titanic Explorer.  You
  290. access the Search dialog by clicking the 'Search' button in the
  291. navigation strip on the Timeline or Browser views.  Here are some
  292. tips for using Search:
  293.  
  294. -  To search for content of interest, type a word in the
  295.     'Search For' field that best describes what you're looking
  296.     for.  Punctuation marks such as commas and quotation marks
  297.     are ignored.
  298. -  For quick results, try a keyword search.  Type in the name of
  299.     a person, place, or thing you would like to see information
  300.     about, such as 'Ismay' or 'Carpathia'.  For best results,
  301.     type as few words as possible.  You can also type words for
  302.     categories of material, such as 'biographies', 'photographs',
  303.     'quotes', and so forth.
  304. -  The 'Search Results' pane can only display the first 300
  305.     results of your search.  If your search returns too many
  306.     items, narrow the focus of your search and try again.
  307. -  To narrow the focus of your search, indicate only the specific
  308.     media types or Volumes you are interested in.  Additionally,
  309.     you can specify multiple words, separated by spaces or
  310.     commas.
  311.     Only items matching ALL the specified words will be
  312.     displayed.  (This style of search is also known as a logical
  313.     Boolean-AND search.)
  314. -  To further control the scope of your search, you can also
  315.     specify simple non-nested Booleans between search words.
  316.     'AND' (the default) specifies that only items with BOTH the
  317.     surrounding terms should be returned, while 'OR' specifies
  318.     that items with EITHER of the surrounding terms should be
  319.     returned.
  320.     For example:
  321.     -  a search for items with the keyword "biographies" would
  322.     return:
  323.         ->  a list of ALL biography items.
  324.     -  a search for items with the keywords
  325.     "biographies AND Astor" would return:
  326.         ->  all items associated with BOTH terms; specifically,
  327.         any available biographies of the Astor family.
  328.     -  a search for items with the keywords
  329.     "biographies OR lifeboats" would return:
  330.         ->  all items associated with EITHER term; this would
  331.         include all biographies as well as all items relating to
  332.         lifeboats.
  333.  
  334. -  The 'Search For' field will also accept the metacharacter '*'
  335.     (asterisk) as a 'search all' symbol.  For example, to get a
  336.     list of all the movies, type '*' in the 'Search For' field
  337.     and choose 'Search by Keyword', 'Search Media Types: Movies',
  338.     and 'Search All Volumes'.
  339. -  The 'Search By Content' option can take a few moments to
  340.     complete.  You can cancel a search-in-progress by pressing
  341.     the Escape key once or twice.  Current results will then be
  342.     formatted and displayed in the Search Results pane.
  343.  
  344.  
  345.  
  346. * 'Full Sound Mixing' mode for Windows
  347.  
  348. Traditionally, Windows does not automatically mix sounds from
  349. different sources (for example, 'regular' audio (like sound
  350. effects), and audio that plays with QuickTime movies).  For
  351. maximum compatibility, Titanic Explorer assumes this as its
  352. default audio playback scheme.  However, if you have Intel RSX or
  353. DirectX DirectSound sound drivers installed for your PC's sound
  354. card (these are often included on many newer PC's), you can
  355. enable 'full sound mixing' between different audio streams and in
  356. general achieve a better-sounding experience while exploring
  357. Titanic.
  358.  
  359. Please note: the following procedure is recommended only for
  360. those users who are comfortable updating system-level resources
  361. (such as sound drivers), and editing system configuration files
  362. (such as Windows config files).  If you are not comfortable with
  363. such procedures, attempting to enable 'full sound mixing' is NOT
  364. recommended.
  365.  
  366. To enable 'full sound mixing':
  367.  
  368. 1.  Make certain you have the absolute latest Intel RSX or
  369.     DirectX DirectSound sound drivers correctly installed on your
  370.     PC.  Older versions of these drivers may not perform as
  371.     expected.  You can obtain current drivers and installation
  372.     directions from the following online resources:
  373.     
  374.     Intel RSX drivers:
  375.          http://www.intel.com/ial/rsx/
  376.          
  377.      DirectSound:
  378.          http://microsoft.com/directx/default.asp
  379.  
  380. 2.  Edit one of Titanic Explorer's initialization files as
  381.     follows:
  382.     a.  Locate the file 'Lingo.ini' that was installed in your
  383.     'Titanic Explorer' folder.
  384.     
  385.     b.  Make a copy of the original 'Lingo.ini' file before
  386.     altering the original.  If you experience problems, you can
  387.     always revert to the original file without reinstalling
  388.     Titanic Explorer.
  389.     
  390.     c.  Open 'Lingo.ini' in a text editor, such as WordPad.
  391.     
  392.     d.  Scroll to the section that begins with
  393.     '----- Titanic Explorer startup: -----'; then look for the
  394.     line 'global gQT3WinSndMix'.  An additional text comment
  395.     describing this value should follow.
  396.     
  397.     e.  At the bottom of the paragraph block, find the line
  398.     '--set gQT3WinSndMix = TRUE'.  Enable this setting by
  399.     removing the leading hyphens and uncommenting the line.
  400.     The line should now read 'set gQT3WinSndMix = TRUE'.
  401.     This tells Titanic Explorer your system is capable of
  402.     simultaneously playing sounds from different streams.
  403.  
  404.     f.  Close and save your changes to the 'Lingo.ini' file, and
  405.     launch Titanic Explorer.
  406.  
  407. 3.  Edit the initialization file 'Titanic.ini' as follows:
  408.     a.  Locate the file 'Titanic.ini' that was installed in your
  409.     'Titanic Explorer' folder.
  410.     
  411.     b.  Make a copy of the original 'Titanic.ini' file before
  412.     altering the original.  If you experience problems, you can
  413.     always revert to the original file without reinstalling
  414.     Titanic Explorer.
  415.     
  416.     c.  Open 'Titanic.ini' in a text editor, such as WordPad.
  417.     
  418.     d.  Scroll to the section that begins with 'Default Sound
  419.     Settings'; then look for the line
  420.         DLLName="Macromix.dll"
  421.     Change this line to read
  422.         DLLName="QT3Mix.dll"
  423.     This enables the QuickTime sound mixing DLL.
  424.  
  425.     f.  Close and save your changes to the 'Titanic.ini' file.
  426.  
  427.  
  428. To disable 'full sound mixing':
  429.  
  430. 1.  Replace the 'Lingo.ini' file with the copy you made earlier
  431.     (as described above); or, edit the 'Lingo.ini' file as
  432.     follows:
  433.  
  434.     a.  Locate the file 'Lingo.ini' that was installed in your
  435.     'Titanic Explorer' folder.
  436.  
  437.     b.  Open 'Lingo.ini' in a text editor, such as WordPad.
  438.  
  439.     c.  Scroll to the section that begins with
  440.     '----- Titanic Explorer startup: -----', and then look for
  441.     the line 'global gQT3WinSndMix'. 
  442.     An additional text comment describing this value should
  443.     follow.
  444.  
  445.     d.  At the bottom of the paragraph block, make sure the line
  446.     'set gQT3WinSndMix = TRUE' is commented out.  To disable full
  447.     sound mixing, the line should look like this (omit the
  448.     quotes):
  449.     '--set gQT3WinSndMix = TRUE'
  450.  
  451.     e.  Close and save your changes to the 'Lingo.ini' file.
  452.  
  453. 2.  Replace the 'Titanic.ini' file with the copy you made earlier
  454.     (as described above); or, edit the 'Titanic.ini' file as
  455.     follows:
  456.  
  457.     a.  Locate the file 'Titanic.ini' that was installed in your
  458.     'Titanic Explorer' folder.
  459.  
  460.     b.  Open 'Titanic.ini' in a text editor, such as WordPad.
  461.  
  462.     c.  Scroll to the section that begins with 'Default Sound
  463.     Settings'; then look for the line
  464.         DLLName="QT3Mix.dll"
  465.     Change this line to read
  466.         DLLName="Macromix.dll"
  467.     This restores the default sound mixing DLL and disables the
  468.     QuickTime sound mixing DLL.
  469.  
  470.     f.  Close and save your changes to the 'Titanic.ini' file.
  471.  
  472. 3.  If you are having other sound issues with your PC, you may
  473.     also wish to disable or remove your Intel RSX or DirectSound
  474.     sound drivers using the Windows Add/Remove Control Panel.  If
  475.     you do this, make sure you have also disabled the 'full sound
  476.     mix' value as described above, or audio within Titanic
  477.     Explorer may not play as expected.
  478.  
  479. 4.  If you are unsure about the correctness of your 'Lingo.ini'
  480.     or 'Titanic.ini' files, you may wish to re-install Titanic
  481.     Explorer from CD-ROM Volume 1. The installer will include a
  482.     fresh copy of the default initialization files as part of the
  483.     install process.
  484.  
  485.  
  486.  
  487.  
  488. *  'Power User' Hard Disk Installation
  489. If you have enough available hard disk space, you can minimize
  490. disc swapping and improve performance by copying data from one or
  491. more of the CD-ROM Volumes onto your hard drive.  You will need
  492. approximately 500 to 600 megabytes of free space for each CD-ROM
  493. Volume you wish to copy to your hard drive.  Please note: this is
  494. a manual installation procedure that involves copying files
  495. directly from the CD-ROM onto your hard drive.  If you are not
  496. comfortable with such a process, attempting a 'power-user'
  497. installation is not recommended.
  498.  
  499. To do a 'power user' installation:
  500. 1.  If you have not done so already, follow the regular
  501.     procedures to perform a standard installation of James
  502.     Cameron's Titanic Explorer on your hard drive.  A standard
  503.     installation requires about 30 megabytes of hard drive space
  504.     and is necessary to run Titanic Explorer.
  505.     
  506. 2.  From your computer's desktop, locate and open the
  507.     'Titanic Explorer' folder you installed on your computer.
  508.     Inside you will see the Titanic Explorer application icon, as
  509.     well as various support files and folders.  Note the folder
  510.     labeled 'data'; this is where Titanic Explorer's
  511.     application-specific data files are kept.
  512.     
  513. 3.  Now, insert the CD-ROM Volume you wish to power-install. 
  514.     Double-click 'My Computer', select the CD-ROM icon, and
  515.     select 'Open' from the 'File' menu to open the CD-ROM's
  516.     window.  Each CD-ROM has its own volume-specific data folder
  517.     ('data1', 'data2', and 'data3', for CD-ROM Volumes 1, 2,  and
  518.     3, respectively).  Locate the appropriate data folder on the
  519.     CD-ROM and then copy the entire folder (the folder itself) to
  520.     inside the Titanic Explorer 'data' folder on your hard drive.
  521.  
  522.     For example, if you copied the 'data1' folder from CD-ROM
  523.     Volume 1 onto your hard drive, the folder structure would
  524.     look like this:
  525.         {your hard drive} ... Titanic Explorer \ data \ data1
  526.  
  527. 4.  You can copy any combination of folders 'data1', 'data2', or
  528.     'data3', but for any given folder you MUST copy the entire
  529.     folder.
  530.     
  531. 5.  The next time you run James Cameron's Titanic Explorer, data
  532.     for a particular Volume will be accessed from your hard drive
  533.     if possible.
  534.  
  535. 'Power-User' Deinstallation:
  536. If you experience problems after a 'power-user' installation, or
  537. you simply need your hard drive space back, you can 'deinstall'
  538. the power-user configuration in the following manner:
  539. 1.  From your computer's desktop, locate and open the 'Titanic
  540.     Explorer' folder you installed on your computer.
  541.  
  542. 2.  In the resultant window, locate and open the folder labeled
  543.     'data'.
  544.  
  545. 3.  In the resultant 'data' folder window, locate one or more of
  546.     the appropriate folder icons (these will be the folders you
  547.     previously copied to your hard drive):  'data1', 'data2' or
  548.     'data3'.  To remove the data folder and prevent it from being
  549.     made available to Titanic Explorer, drag the 'data1',
  550.     'data2', or 'data3' folder only to the Recycle Bin.  Do NOT
  551.     delete any files or folders other than 'data1', 'data2', or
  552.     'data3', or James Cameron's Titanic Explorer may not
  553.     work as expected.  If you delete other files or folders, or
  554.     you experience problems after deinstallation, you can always
  555.     reinstall a fresh copy of James Cameron's Titanic Explorer by
  556.     running the installation program on CD-ROM Volume 1.
  557.  
  558.  
  559. 'Power-User' Install Notes:
  560. -  Performance may actually degrade if you copy files onto a
  561. severely fragmented hard disk.  For best results, make sure your
  562. hard drive is defragmented before copying data from a CD-ROM
  563. Volume onto your hard drive.  (You can use Windows' Defrag
  564. utility, or any of a number of commercially-available hard drive
  565. utilities for this purpose; for more information, check your
  566. computer dealer or online resource.)
  567.  
  568. -  You must copy the entire data folder from each CD-ROM.  If you
  569. omit or delete files, James Cameron's Titanic Explorer may not
  570. work as expected, and in some cases may not run at all.
  571.

  578. TROUBLESHOOTING
  579.  
  580. James Cameron's Titanic Explorer is designed to use the full
  581. multimedia capabilities of your computer.  Performance may vary
  582. according to the configuration of your computer system and CD-ROM
  583. drive.
  584.  
  585. To experience Titanic Explorer at its best:
  586.  
  587.     * Make sure you have an appropriate system configuration
  588.     as described in the System Requirements section.  In
  589.     particular, make sure you have enough system memory.
  590.  
  591.     * Make sure you have installed the Titanic Explorer program
  592.     files as well as the necessary system extensions and drivers,
  593.     including QuickTime 3 and the Titanic font 'Arial for
  594.     Titanic'.  For more information, refer to the Installation
  595.     section in this document, and the informational booklet

  602.     * Make sure your monitor is set to display its maximum bit
  603.     depth (number of colors).  Although Titanic Explorer works
  604.     with 256 colors, your experience will be significantly
  605.     improved when your monitor is set to 'High' color (16-bit
  606.     color) or greater.  If your monitor cannot be set to higher
  607.     color depths, you may be able to enable more colors by first
  608.     setting the screen resolution to a smaller size, down to a
  609.     minimum of 640x480.  Setting a smaller screen resolution also
  610.     has the effect of enabling Titanic Explorer to completely
  611.     fill your display as you navigate through the story.
  612.     You can change your monitor settings in Windows' 'Display'
  613.     control panel.
  614.     
  615.     * If you are using a computer and CD-ROM with an
  616.     'auto-insert' feature, such as an Aptiva with a
  617.     Hitachi CDR-8130 CD-ROM drive, make sure to set 'auto-insert'
  618.     to ON.  If auto-insert is 'off' you may see the blue
  619.     Windows system screen when trying to change CDs.  If this
  620.     happens, follow the onscreen instructions and press Escape.
  621.     You should quit Titanic Explorer and set 'auto-insert' ON
  622.     to prevent the problem from happening again.  (To change
  623.     the 'auto-insert' setting, refer to the documentation that
  624.     came with your computer.)

  627. If you are having problems running James Cameron's Titanic
  628. Explorer, read the following.

  630. Hardware-related issues:
  631.  
  632.     * Video. Many video problems can often be traced to
  633.     incompatible drivers for the video board.  If all else fails,
  634.     it often works to substitute the generic Microsoft SVGA
  635.     driver that comes with Windows.
  636.  
  637.     * Audio. In general, make sure your sound card is properly
  638.     configured and that you are using updated drivers.  Also,
  639.     your CD-ROM drive should not be connected to a SoundBlaster
  640.     16 board.
  641.  
  642.     * CD-ROM. Make sure your CD-ROM drive is properly configured,
  643.     that it is not accidentally sharing a DMA channel with
  644.     another device, and that the CD-ROM cache is not too large.
  645.  
  646.  
  647.     For more information regarding system configurations, please
  648.     refer to the documentation that came with your computer or
  649.     contact your dealer.

  652. QuickTime issues:
  653.  
  654.     * James Cameron's Titanic Explorer uses a highly compressed
  655.     format for storing QuickTime movies (digital video).
  656.     Consequently, older machines may not have the processor speed
  657.     necessary to smoothly display some video sequences at
  658.     full-screen size.  If QuickTime playback appears to be
  659.     choppy, try selecting the 'Reduced' video size option in
  660.     Titanic Explorer's main menu or 'General Controls'.
  661.     
  662.     * Conversely, if the performance of non-video elements
  663.     appears to be seriously affected and the cursor disappears,
  664.     you may need to adjust QuickTime 3's default settings.  In
  665.     this case, open the QuickTime Control panel and try changing
  666.     from the default "Video Settings (Options enabled)" to
  667.     "Safe Mode (GDI Only)."
  668.  
  669.     * You may also want to check Apple's website for the latest
  670.     QuickTime updates:

  674. 8-bit QuickTime video color issue (Windows 95 and 98):
  675.  
  676.     If you are running James Cameron's Titanic Explorer under
  677.     Windows 95 or 98 (not NT) in 256 colors, you may experience
  678.     problems with QuickTime movies displaying incorrect colors or
  679.     demonstrating unusually choppy playback.
  680.  
  681.     Normally, Titanic Explorer attempts to enable
  682.     'direct-to-screen' video playback whenever possible.  This
  683.     setting optimizes the performance of QuickTime and QuickTime
  684.     VR movies.  However, if you specifically have the above
  685.     configuration, Titanic Explorer will DISABLE direct-to-screen
  686.     video in order to ensure proper color display (at the expense
  687.     of reduced playback performance).
  688.  
  689.     In this case, to improve performance, try one of the
  690.     following:
  691.  
  692.     1.  See if you can adjust your monitor's settings to display
  693.     at higher color depths (Start -> Settings -> Control Panel =>
  694.     Display => Settings -> Color Palette).  This is the simplest
  695.     solution and will greatly improve Titanic Explorer's
  696.     appearance and performance.  Note that you may be able to
  697.     display more colors by first setting a smaller desktop area
  698.     (down to a minimum of 640x480).  Setting a smaller desktop
  699.     area will also allow Titanic Explorer to fill your
  700.     display.
  701.  
  702.     OR,
  703.  
  704.     2.  If you must run Windows 95 or 98 in 256 color mode, use
  705.     the special 'in-a-window' version of Titanic Explorer
  706.     included on CD-ROM Volume 1.  This version allows fast
  707.     direct-to-screen video but does not 'black-out' your desktop.
  708.     As a result, your desktop may appear to temporarily display
  709.     'wrong' colors in the background while Titanic Explorer is
  710.     running. To install the special 'in-a-window' version of
  711.     Titanic Explorer:
  712.         a.    You MUST have the 'standard' version of Titanic
  713.             Explorer already installed on your hard drive. 
  714.         b.    From Windows, locate and open the 'Titanic
  715. Explorer'
  716.             folder you originally installed on your computer. 
  717.         c.    Insert Titanic Explorer CD-ROM Volume 1 in your
  718.             CD-ROM drive, and
  719.             -  open the CD-ROM's icon,
  720.             -  locate and open the folder 'Titanic8'.  Then,
  721.             -  select all the items INSIDE the 'Titanic8'
  722.             folder and copy them into the 'Titanic Explorer'
  723.             folder on your hard drive.  (Do not copy the folder
  724.             itself, only the files inside.)  If necessary, click
  725.             OK to replace any old versions of the files.

  727.     (For more information on accessing and copying files, please
  728.     refer to the manuals that came with your computer.)

  730.     Important: for best results, you should also set your
  731.     monitor's screen resolution to 640x480:
  732.         Start -> Settings -> Control Panel => Display => Settings
  733.         -> Resolution
  734.     This will enable Titanic Explorer to fill your monitor's
  735.     screen and will prevent color shifts from appearing in the
  736.     background while the program is running.

  738.     To run the modified program, open the 'Titanic Explorer'
  739.     folder where you just copied the files, and double-click the
  740.     application (.exe file) labeled 'Titanic8'.  (Note that the
  741.     original shortcut installed in your Start menu will NOT
  742.     automatically run the 'in-a-window' version, you MUST
  743.     explicitly double-click the 'Titanic8' application icon.)

  747.     3.  If necessary, you can override Titanic Explorer's default
  748.     video playback settings by editing the startup file
  749.     'Lingo.ini' installed in your 'Titanic Explorer' folder.
  750.     This option is typically recommended only as a last resort,
  751.     and only for those users who are comfortable editing similar
  752.     files (such as Windows config files).  Detailed information
  753.     is included inside the 'Lingo.ini' file itself.  If you
  754.     choose this option, be sure to make a copy of the original
  755.     'Lingo.ini' file before altering the original.  If you
  756.     experience problems, you can always revert to the original
  757.     file without reinstalling Titanic Explorer.

  762. Font issues:

  764.     If you do not see the iconic symbols used in some text
  765.     displays to indicate media types, locations, and views (for
  766.     example, the 'eye' symbol or the '1', '2', '3' bullets that
  767.     indicate a content item's CD-ROM Volume location), make sure
  768.     the custom font 'Arial for Titanic' is properly installed.
  769.     When you originally installed James Cameron's Titanic
  770.     Explorer, the font should have been placed in your system's
  771.     Fonts folder by the installer.
  772.     
  773.     You can see the contents of your Fonts folder by selecting:
  774.         Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Fonts
  775.     or directly open the Fonts folder on your boot drive
  776.     (for example, [your boot drive]:\Windows\Fonts  )

  778.     If the font file is not there, you should reinstall James
  779.     Cameron's Titanic Explorer from CD-ROM Volume 1 (note: you

  784.     doesn't display in Titanic Explorer, you may have to restart

  788.     to the Recycle Bin and run the Titanic Explorer Installer
