PEOPLE, Page 71Boise's Best
By MICHAEL QUINN
If pop rocker CURTIS STIGERS indeed Never Saw a Miracle,
as he sings on his latest single, then he need look no further
than his own career. In one year, the jazz-influenced crooner
and composer has rocketed from nightclubs to stadiums, powered
by his debut album and its soul-edged ballad I Wonder Why.
Among his mentors, the Idaho refugee counts Elton John and Eric
Clapton: "I learned to play saxophone by listening to rock
guitar players like Clapton." Stigers starts a concert tour this
week in New York City. Joining him at Shea Stadium: Clapton and
John.
